question on memory sticks

hi,question on memory sticks is I know the fingers are the most wanted ,but how about the sticks that have the gold plating on the back that have no chips.are these fully gold plated under the solder mask. just wondering,ed.

If you have a buyer, or are thinking about selling e-waste, then I would suggest contacting one and ask them. Ultimately their say is what matters the most. I would assume, and maybe I shouldn't, but if you had no modules on the sticks then yes they would be less per pound. They do have PM's inside of them as well, so that would be the reason for the decrease in price. Unless you are refining them, or that's just how you got them, I wouldn't advise removing them yourself.

It'll depend on what you have. Check to see if there are modern sticks. A lot of buyers will pay per pound for anything, but some will pay a premium for certain capacities of sticks. Some sticks can be worth more than scrap value to the point that one or two sticks can equal an entire pound of sticks at scrap prices.

Personally, I leave the gold fingers on. To me, it's not worth the hassle. Are you sure that what you have are desktop memory sticks, and not something more concentrated from vintage stuff? Some of the vintage memory is a lot more concentrated than regular DIMM desktop memory is.

Personally, I'd take a photo of the sticks in question, and ask your buyer. Your mileage will vary.
