    Old ham radios and such

I'm in Kansas City this week and decided to look up auctions. Came across a huge consignment auction selling off someones entire ham radio and equipment collection. I'm sure they'll piece it out. I also saw a bunch of old military electronics. I'd be totally shooting in the dark and wouldn't buy anything unless it went for dirt dirt cheap. In what years did they start using gold in electronics? Are ham radios too early? I know if I was to get lucky

and buy anything I would check out ay first but I was thinking.... Worse case, I can take it home and tear it apart. If you're interested in looking at photos check out www.tuxedo antiques.com and look for July 24th auction. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm a douche! If I would have simply searched, "ham radio" on the forum, I would have found enough info to satisfy my curiosity. As soon as I posted my initial thread, links on ham radios came up. Sorry about that! D@mn newb!

there's also a ham radio forum somewhere. Might just stop by there while they're cleaning up, and offer to pick up the scraps

I don't think there will be a cleaning up stage, they'll sell to the lowest bidder. I'm hoping I can offer a dollar enough times to fill my truck. I checked on eBay, even just the old vintage tubes were going for 15 bucks, this auction had thousands, a lot in original packaging.

The one site I know is Eham for ham radio, there's probably a ton of them. http://www.eham.net/
Here is a place that has been around forever and they buy and sell anything military or ham related, good luck with it.
