I started a new ID for buying in 2009 when I found out not good idea to buy and sell on same ID

Why is it not good to buy and sell on the same ID?

One reason is that if you are a high volume seller.. e.g. 3000 to 4000 transactions a month, you are also going to get a certain percentage of negative feedback. Maybe 1%-3% which isn't much on the small scale but after you've racked up well over 20,000 transactions, having 400+ people leaving negative feedback doesn't exactly look good. So as a buyer with negative feedback, most sellers will reserve the right to refuse your bid.

now that ebay has made it easier for the buyers to threaten or extort the seller with the negative strike i will not sell using my original 1st id anymore.

when & if i return to selling it will be with a new and disposable id i could give a rats aspirin about if it gets held hostage or dinged

I post a lot on the eBay Package forum
If you don't use a Posting ID and or your Buying ID
You get a person that does not agree with your post and they purchase something from you just to leave a neg
OR
If you buy something and the deal goes south, If you use the same ID for Buying & Selling
If you leave the Seller a NEG
Then they just buy something from you so they can give the retaliatory NEG
OR
If you flip products, Buy low and sell high
The potential Buyer looks at your Feed Back or recent purchases and finds out they just paid you $200.00 for a book you purchased 2 weeks ago for $50.00
That is when I got my Buying ID >> May of 08

To add to that, another group of people who always get dinged on their feedback are the people who sell the "penny-annie" stuff for less than $1 but they have $7 to $10 in shipping and handling fees. And this is not a bad thing if the item is something that you would ordinarily buy for $10 in any store. It's just that when people first think that they are getting the deal of a lifetime, they are quickly disappointed. When it's time to check out, they do the math and realize that the shipping costs are 10 times higher than the cost of the item itself and then when the box comes in the mail with a $3.65 USPS priority mail sticker on it, they feel cheated. They feel cheated because they thought that they got one over on the seller even though in the wash, it was a fair deal.

Ebay normally sends an auto reminder a month after purchase is completed, but if I don't see anything after a month I don't ask.

I leave feedback directly after payment, since the seller can't leave the buyer anything but postive I figure might as well get it over with.

Keep all your emails in the event of difficulties or feedback extortion, sometimes you can get it removed if they threaten to neg you just because they can and some do.

That's really good info and something I never thought about before. A couple questions... You obviously need a different email account for the second ebay account, can they all be tied into the same Paypal account though? That's kind of a pain in the ass having to set up two of everything...
