    5 ton 6 x 6 at auction

    This rig might be handy for scrap if you could pull a trailer. Probably also handy for a small logging operation the gauge shows 297 hours.

    Engine: 250 CUMMINS
    Transmission: AUTOMATIC
    Tires: GOOD

    1984 AM General M936 Truck, Wrecker, Medium, 5-ton, 6x6. Vehicle equipped with a 45,000-pound capacity rear-mounted, drag winch; 20,000-pound capacity, front mounted, hydraulically-driven self-recovery winch; and a 20,000-pound capacity hydraulically rotating, 10 to 18-foot extending and elevating crane. Powered by a Cummins NHC-250 6-cylinder naturally aspirated Diesel engine driving through an Allison automatic transmission and two-speed transfer case.

    I know several people that have owned deuce and an half s, and you can expect 5-6 miles a gallon.

    This is a five ton wrecker - 5-6 GALLONS per MILE.

    It wouldn't be quite that bad but you can bet it wouldn't ever do double digits on fuel mileage. A semi will average anywhere from 4-7 so it wouldn't be much worse than that. I'm not saying it couldn't be useful but just not for me.
