    Canadian Government surplus auctions suck....

Have been wanting to get into auctions for a while. Have had good luck buying tools and stuff but can never find scrap auctions up here. The ones i do find are way over priced. 5 Sysco switches are at 1000 bucks. Now i dont know alot about e waste yet but that to me sounds outragious. Everything else is a single item auction.

www.gcsurplus.ca is the only site i can find. Have tried lookin for city or county auctions with no luck. Even tried lookin at private auctions. No e waste. Anyone know of any up here or are there just none around yet?

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

All kinds come up when you google them, I just don't know if their the right area for you.
Let Google be your friend, use the big city close to you along with 'SCHOOL AUCTION' in the listing.

Everything that i did find is across the country or a few hrs away. Nothing close enough.

The big city (Toronto) has moved all its auctions to a private company. Their website has no info and no auctions lined up. Just gonna keep doin what i do and keep my eyes open.

Crown Assets is a decent site, but it depends on what you are after. If you are looking for material to scrap, it's pretty hit and miss. If you are after goods for resale, it's a goldmine..., if you have buyers. The government regularly upgrades their electronics and most that come up for auction are 1-2 generations old; too new to scrap for a profit, but obsolete for their use. That's not to say they are useless to everyone, just them.

The smaller facilities tend to hang onto their gear longer and have lower resale potential that you can sometimes snag for a decent scrap profit. Just bid accordingly. From an auction last month, I bid on over a 100 items, all of it at scrap value. The one Dell PowerEdge 2950 server that I won was well worth the price I paid for it, I could scrap it for a profit, use it in-house, or flip it for a larger profit.

The rv auction is at the 10th line and i work off the 11th lol only issue is i work whenever those auctions are goin on. Gonna try and see how the north toronto auction is.

Burls creek is awesome once everyones packin up. Stuff left everywhere. But Good luck buying any scrap there. Everythings waaaaay over priced. Iv never found a deal on anything. Like a Beat to rat crap 80s 3 wheeler. 3 G's! Ya right! He musta been piss drunk when he prices his stuff.

Its shifting from an automotive flea market to something like the 400 market if not worse. More guys selling china plastic toys to silk screen paintings than guys selling car stuff.. Not quite that bad YET but Its getting bad none the less. Sign up sheet says 80% of your stuff MUST be automotive related. Never is. I used to go for the full 4 days. Now i go for a few hrs on the weekend. Really dissapointing. Only reason me ans dad still go are to talk to the guys about our Model A.

Tried sellin some car parts and tires last summer. What a joke. Basically just paid to get drunk and camp at a really expensive camp site. Live and learn!

Just checked out past bids on the North toronto auction site. Some stuff goin pretty good. Nothing i could really profit off of though. If i owned a parts yard id be avke to make decent money. I just dont have the time, mobey and space to sit on cars for a while.
