Realtor open house free for all

Tomorrow I'm going to an open house that a local realtor is having that everything in the house needs to go (it was advertised). I assume it just full of crap. I have never been to one of these just wonder how it works. Like can I just mark everything I want then remove or do I grab and load then run back in to see what eels I can get. Any tips would be great cause this is very much out of my wheel house. Thanks

Could you contact the realtor and ask for a preview let him know if it looks good you could give him some cash to be able to remove stuff early. If not I think you will need to grab and toss in truck and go back for more! Maybe have some one stay with your truck so it dose not get unloaded while you are going back for more! God luck and let us know how it goes. I have never heard of this before!

In the realtors add it said don't contact him before the open house. It will be just me with my trailer, so hopefully if I do get something nothing gets lifted out of it. It may just be a watch and learn event but I'm Gona check it out. suppose to be raining tomorrow so that may help thin the crowd.

Show up early for a good parking spot. I went to something that was like this, but everything was $1. They started 30 min early and the place was picked clean when I got there at the stated time.
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.

Good luck with it Keith. Ever need a set of eyes or hands, I'm just 2 hours from ya.

I bring my own cooler to. Ha ha!

Grab some BoJangles, show up early, eat some lunch, then go on a buying spree!

Let us know how it works out for ya.

(I'd made a couple posts thinking you were talking about an auction)

I did a drive by on the property tonight while doing my Thursday night curb shop. Small ranch with an attached garage. It does have a shed in the back may have to see if that's on the pillage menu. Hope the realtor doesn't cancel do to rain. I'll update tomorrow. Thanks for all the tips.

It was crazy! The house was to open at 2 so head over there and got to the street about 1:30. There where at least 50 people standing in the front yard in the rain the street was packed and the court at the end had cars double parked. I had to do some fancy driving to get the trailer turned around. There were people still parking on the street that led to this one. I bet the residents that live on that street were not happy. To much for me espicaly since the guy reposted the ad but this time said that the were no appliances or furniture just clothes, leanin, nicknacks and household items. So I headed home with two quick stops only to have my starter quit. A quick smack with a rench got it started. Got a new one but I'll have to wait till morning when this wind and rain are gone to get it on.

This sounds crazy. That realtor took an awful chance. I can't even begin to tabulate the number of things that could go horribly wrong here.

If somebody did a "bait and switch" like that to me, there'd be a "problem". I often drive 3-4 hours for stuff like that. Usually auctions but I can imagine that I'd go for what sounded like an estate sale.

This was the post on CL this morning. LMAO

SAT OPEN HOUSE CANCELED! (WHITEWOOD LANE)
I HAD POSTED AN OPEN HOUSE ON WHITEWOOD LN FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. THIS IS CANCELED.

FRIDAY ATTENDEES COMPLETELY CLEANED THE HOUSE OUT. THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO TAKE!

THE NEIGHBORS WERE PRETTY IRRITATED WITH ALL THE TRAFFIC AND TWO POLICE OFFICERS LIVE IN THE CUL-D-SAC. I PROMISED THEM I WOULD TELL EVERYONE NOT TO COME ON SATURDAY.

AGAIN, DO NOT COME. EVERYTHING IS GONE.

I POSTED THIS EARLIER TODAY AND SOMEONE FLAGGED IT FOR REMOVAL. HOPEFULLY THAT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I DON'T WANT TO WASTE PEOPLES TIME AND GAS.

SEE YOU ON THE NEXT ONE!

Any mass giveaways like that posted in the "free" section on CL I don't bother with.

Went to one, like a feeding frenzy.

People were trying to clean out a house after the mother passed, setting it out in the lawn as they went along...they canceled after a few hours...they couldn't even get in or out of the house, they were waiting in masses on the front porch for the next box to be brought out after everything was gone on the lawn.

I have gone to a similar event. Except it was an estate sale company doing it. Everything was free. I ended up with some older scuba equipment all in a very nice leather scuba bag. I got some old cassette tapes and 8 tracks. Both sets had cases for them. I also got a couple small decorative pieces. And a few brass pieces. I should have got there a little sooner. But overall I think I did good for free.

I've never even heard of something like this! I can't even imagine the amount of people that would show up and not only clog things but, what if someone got hurt? or in a tussle over an item? do they herd the fisticuffs out the back door lol.

That made me laugh...could you imagine the reaction if you had stopped an told them it was the wrong house.

Oh the reactions would be priceless. If it ever happens where people show up to the wrong house an take stuff, I hope someone youtubes it.

    Sirscrapalot - Laughing away.
