    CRT Monitors from auction

So recently I purchased approx 50 crt monitors from a surplus auction. All various models and types. So far I have gone through half of them and man its a lot of work.
I paid 75 bucks for all the monitors and with the auction only 3 miles from home, I have not used much gas. So far I have pulled in about 100 dollars from the #2 copper I got out of them. About 25 dollars from the insulated wires and 7 dollars from aluminum.

When I started I was saving the plastic to sell to a local plastic recyclers for .12 cents a pound. But the plastic just builds takes up too much space and with barely 100 pounds it just is not worth the drive and effort to get paid for it. I found a recycle dumpster within a quarter mile so that is where it is now. Dealing with the glass tubes has been very frustrating as well.

I could always just piece the monitors back together and place them for another unsuspecting scrapper to pick up. Let them deal with it! However, I feel bad doing that now, it is just not the right thing to do. So I will continue recycling the plastics to try and "do my part" in "saving the environment" lol..

Wow. Yeah that is a lot of glass and plastic. I am working to find the right place around here for that myself. Otherwise I can't go crazy grabbing stuff just yet.

I just might be able to say the day, your solution if you have DELL crt monitors is STAPLES ... http://arstechnica.com/hardware/news...ng-program.ars

I also buy from the surplus auctions and majority of them sell DELL monitors, i strip them to the bone, put the plastic cover back on screw in the 4 screws and put it to the side, when i get about 30 i load them in the pick up and drive them over to my local staples, and drop them of for FREE, no questions asked. Now this is only for ANY DELL PRODUCT, antything other then dell they migh charge you so just sort them out and the NON DELL just take it to your town recycling on haz day mine is the 1st sat of each month and they take them for me. Good luck. Hope this helps a little.

No problem, also dont overload just one staples, i have about 3 within 15 miles so i usually do like 10 or so at each location, and call before you go speak to the electronics MAnager and make sure he is aware of the partnership with DELL, so have no idea and i have to print the link and show them lol..
