The people who bid on those type of computers don't do it to scrap. They're either going to a refurbisher who wants to deal with boxing a ton of desktops up if they keep buying lots like that, or they're getting prepped in bulk and leaving the country. What we consider to be an obsolete 12 year old Dell will have value for developing areas. I donated a few Pentium III laptops about 3 or 4 years ago to a Christian Missionary group working in Africa. They were super happy to get them. There's more uses for older stuff than people give credit too. It's just not usually my cup of tea
