Re-posting some website info to my website?

    Hi everyone
I am starting a website on weebly.com. I was wondering if I could use some of these E-waste buyers on this websites to post on my website to maybe generate more customers. I will be doing a price comparison for their scrap. I will only post prices that are higher than boardsort.com or Cashforcomputerscrap.com. My targeted marked is in Medford Or and Eureka Ca.. These towns are paying low prices like normal scrap metal yards do. If you guys don't mind let me know. So far I have not put anyone on this site and it is still under constuction, but I think I might be able to generate more revenue for some.

Quit leading the horses to water. Do not get into bidding wars with other websites/scrappers. If the people you are going to buy from are into this seriously, they already know the prices. Where I am at, there are 2 scrap yards 3 miles apart. **** near same prices. One yard usually pays 10 a ton more on the ferrous. Yet, the other yard still stays open... why is that? Doesn't matter what you put for prices on your site, every site I pretty much see, if you don't pay for the site, has old prices. Pay for a site, prices are more current. Look at the people who have posted "their" sites on here.... esp. the free sites. I personally don't think web sites drive that much business, UNLESS you SEO the hell out of it, or overkill like George B. did. He got to the point people were/are sick of him.

You must have miss understood me. I'm not buying from anyone. I am just putting up scrap prices so people can compare for them selves and make the best decision. As for me the closest scrap yard is 1 1/2 hours away. So I give all my metal besides copper heat sinks, aluminium heat sinks, and crv recyclables to a guy that takes the scrap but doesn't pay for it. Sometimes though he trades stuff so it works out.

As prices can change so fast you would have to make sure your info is up to date.

I would suggest that you contact the yards in question and see if they have an API or some way to get updated pricing to your site. Sometimes you can get a data dump one a day or several times a day...you will have to work that out with them. Just disclose "these prices are accurate as of XX:XX and may change at anytime". If they have a way to get the data dump it is a simple process for a web coder to set up a cron job to get the info and auto post it to your site. The other options would be a cron job to run a web scraper if prices are posted on the yards sites (I haven't seen that, but maybe some places they are).

There are a number of options to do all this...but here is a bit of advice. WEEBLY is NOT where you want to have a site, nor will you be able to run cron jobs most likely. You want dedicated or shared hosting...there are many companies that are CHEAP. Besides they just make wordpress sites...wordpress is a free CMS platform and you can get template all over the place. It is simple to learn and you can get a site built very cheaply at a few places I know.

Just thought I would throw out a bit of expertise on this sort of thing....I have done alot of online marketing, affiliate marketing and built a number of websites (or had them built depending on complexity).

So,you're doing this to generate customers, but you're not buying from them? I'm going to sound mean, but I'm really not. I know what you're doing. You and 20 million other people have tried/and thought of the same thing. You want to show people how much they could get... and take away the business from you? If you're going to show them something, show the LOW payers. Then offer to match. You also do realize what you're asking to do, you're doing on a website that does the same thing? You also stated you wanted to post prices that are HIGHER than CFCS. Uh, kind of a slap in the face. I know I'm acting like a ****, but I'm really not. You're trying to generate a website with traffic. I can see that. But I can also tell you that if you look even harder, there are more people than what you think buying scrap in your area.

    OK
    First of all Iamthegreatest
I repeat yet again I AM NOT BUYING SCRAP!
In a town of 8k with 2500 of that being in the prison, there is no one buying scrap in Crescent City Ca
They have a recycle center that just takes CRVs.
I walked into the 1 computer shop in town and asked him if I could take his scrap for free, and he agreed.
I also called the other computer shop in Booking and asked him if I could get his too.
And yes there are only 2 computer shops in a hour radius from town.

Hey, I know when I'm out thunk. I'm a 3-5 year waiter/winner. Just please, post your site here when it's done. I'm getting too old for this, and I gotta get some sleep, got a 10 dollar load of shred to take in tomorrow. Costs me 20 bucks to run it in. So what do I know?

Once again, I am done. Every time a discussion gets started, it gets pulled. I can't be any nicer. I just can't. You want Daisies and puppies, so be it. Call me out because I truly do something wrong, so be it. I really thought this was a clean discussion this time. You don't want traffic, so be it. I will not sit here and have "Continued arguing and cutting down other members" on my rep. This really must be why people are leaving. I thought it was because they were dropping out of Scrap. But there is a hidden forum killer here somewhere.

Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.
