I had a small bit of scrap from a house to pick up today (which lead to discussion that the neighbor had a multi-acre yard full of junk she wanted to get rid of). I decided that I needed to supplement my load a bit, so I went around the back roads looking for roadside dumps. Together, I found about #300 of sheet iron just chilling in the woods, which took me about an hour to retrieve. I spent about $3 extra in gas, and made $33 extra dollars! Of course I had to get dirty a bit, but I got to walk around in the beautiful woods! Sounds like a good deal to me. Also, I found a bonus hot water tank on the way home from the recycling yard. This same spot I found the sheet iron in has given me about #200-300 on several other occasions too. I love cleaning up other people's ignorance.
