Bed rails are worth way more then scrap unless they are bent, rusted, or made unuseable somehow. Put them on CL and they will sell easy. People that do storage auctions find tons of headboard/footboards but the rails are only in there 40% of the time it seems. Complete set ready to use is worth more then the head/foot by itself.

I read online somewhere that there was a guy that had a load of cans. Was taking them to Mich and he had no tailgate and cans where coming out.He got pulled over by the state police. He also had a trailer full of cans.

Total cans where 60,000 He got lucked up and charged a felony because it is illegal to haul cans from one state to another for the .10 cents thing that certain states do.

I heard word from local home "free" Malchicks who vidded themselves a spot of cans. He took me to an abandon campsite not too far from a nature trail where i found more natural ice cans than I could imagine. Cleaning up the woods and coppin a lil purse.

go the the campsites that the homeless have abandon (If your in with the crowd you can even get some body to guide you there). These people who spend so much time on the street often know where there is good scrap but many times they may be a competitor for scrap as far as cans go i found hundreds at one long ago shanty town and im sure its a reoccurring phenomena.

I interviewed a guy recently that copped a felony for just that. Shame really.

Trash cans at public boat ramps! Most people are smart enough to not bring glass on a boat so they produce a lot of cans while out on the water, or at least I do!

When they come in they dump there trash in the can with all there cans mixed in.

I started collecting cans a year into my picking career, mostly just from where I work, but I have a germaphobic issue with it. I just imagine that the person drinking out of it either put out 3 cigarettes in the can, or spat chewing tobacco juice until it was full to the brim.

So yeah, mostly I like to only collect cans that I drank out of, lol. I wash out the ones that I can, because the drops of soda/energy drink in each can will leak out after you crush them, and eventually your bucket/container is a moldy mess.

But, I always see it as free money. Why go recycle it at the center when you can get part of what you paid for the can back? Another good tip when buying canned drinks with scrapping in mind for later - never throw away a 12-Pack box from a Coke product (including Powerade, Mello Yello, Sprite, etc.). These codes, when entered on their website, will give you free 12-Packs, which completes the circle

I always buy off brand soda because it's cheaper, but I have over 6,000 points on that website, from boxes and bottle caps I find daily.
