    If anyone has a Grainger near by stop in and see if you can get permission to check out their dumpsters. I worked for them a while back and whenever their customers brought in burnt motors, broken pulleys ect they usually just put them in dumpsters. Also I remember once in a while if anything came in damaged like air compressors or roof blowers, instead of sending back to mfg they would take photos of damage for replacements and trash the item. Alot of metals went into trash back then. Might be worth a shot.. good luck.
