    Computer slots removal

    All

How can I remove pins from computer slots, I have a large lot, well over 2000lbs and I can't sell it. Should i remove the plastic cover along with pins inside of it then ball mill and magnet separate the pins or should i remove the plastic with pins still attached?

    Regards
    Kevin

Due to my own lack of experience, I'd say do it any way you can figure out how. There is also the Gold Refining Forum, where you might find ideas on the extraction of precious metal content. Good luck there Kevin

You might also look on about page 5 or 6 of the gustavus thread, yep that's the title, "the gustavus thread", he set up a steel plate with a backboard to hold the boards, and uses a chisel to sort of "slice" the components off. He might have used an air chisel

I have been manually removing the pins from the plastic, after removing them from the board. A tedious excercise to say the least. If you can chop them up small you should be able to float the plastic away from anything the magnet won't pick up.

If the pins are gold plated brass or copper then what is there for a magnet to grab onto??

I think he's referring to the slots where you insert the ram, wireless card, etc.

You have just the slots? I bet there are buyers here that would buy them as gold connector ends from you. Have you contacted any of them?

Just noticed where you are...have you looked into ball milling them?

If that's what it is then there is nothing for a magnet to stick to.

    Hello!

I hope you get this since it is a little old of a thread, but How did you remove those from the boards themselves.
When I seem to get lucky enough to remove them whole, I just smash them with a hammer and pick out the metal...... So no problem there for me. But I cannot find an easy way of removing them from the board itself. Thank you for your time!
