I have seen prices of chips ,fibre, with and with out copper/alu heat sinks. $9 with $18 without.
Does this mean by taking off the cap alu or copper will rise the price?
has any one done this and analyzed the results?

olddude, I'm pretty sure what you are seeing is a reference not to the large heat sink usually mounted on a processor. When looking at price lists you will see something like this:
P4 fiber with heatsink - $x.xx
P4 fiber w/o heatsink - $x.xx
That is referencing the fiber cpus that have a built in heat spreader/heat sink glued onto the chip, they are usually about 1/8" thick and just a little smaller in width than the processor.
What I do is heat the cpu up.. on the copper side... once its hot enough... tap it on a glass plate.. the backing will come off.. and then swipe the pins off.. or you can do it reverse.. then toss the fiber board into a seperate container.. You can toss them into your motherboard, you'll get some good precious stuff out of it that way if you send it into a refiner. but I've never been able to remove the copper heatsink, without losing the pins.
