Things to watch out for when buying bulk laptops ??

I Have a chance to buy Dell Latitude d630 laptops x24
for 800$ They come with chargers and with HDs i was wondering if there's any potential on ebay for older workplace laptop machines such as this the company that is selling them to me is a very big refurb/ewaste company. I know this guy knows the scrap prices better then i do considering hes a large company, He has ALOT of this stuff. Do you think there's any potential for making money off a company like this on ebay? I see lots of 10 going for 600+ USD + What should i watch out for also?

PS they boot to atleast bios most are working

    2gigs ram duo cores

D630s have overheating problems, I would be very careful with this. They seem to sell pretty good still on ebay though. Depending on what operating system they came with you might be able to to make a decent profit.

Edit: I would be questioning why a refurb company is trying to unload them all, rather than refurbish them.

I read ebay and my ears perk up lol. Yes you might be able to make some money on them or other machines you receive from them.

Where is he located? Whats his name? Cmon share some info, you ask enough questions and get answers. I don't think I have seen you answer anyone elses questions yet? The only time you are here is to ask a question. " sorry guys if this has been asked already but I have searched and couldn't find what I was looking for. Maybe I can sucker in someone into giving me an answer?"

We purchase laptop computers and many components for greater than scrap value. We offer a shipping reimbursement program.replies

I could have sworn that I replied to a thread just like this last night!

If you're trying to resell them, you're in a tough spot. You'll either need to become a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher to receive licenses at a lower price, or you can spend $100 for a retail license, and wipe out all profits, or you can sell them without an OS.

You can sell to a buyer on here, and maybe make a little.

Since you're in Canada, I don't know what shipping would cost, nor do know how our prices correspond to the Canadian dollar.

My advice is to spend time with a spreadsheet. Pour over the numbers, and see what's realistic. That's not a guarantee by any means, but it'll help your odds a lot.

I think that's a bit harsh. Guy is simply asking what people's opinion here on the opportunity is. I hardly think slamming the dude for posting up questions here on the forum is warranted.

That said, my humble opinion is that they're WAY overpriced. Do a search on Ebay for sold D630's and you'll see non-working one's sell for around $20 a pop. I would base my pricing around that(that they're non-working). I would offer probably $400 tops.

No doubt... He needs to give up his lead because he has asked some questions... That's ridiculous.

I hate to say it but this world is not all sunshine and rainbows........I could care less who he is getting them from as he is probably over 1000 miles away..........Dell Latitude D630 is probably the most abundant Gov't surplus laptop out there............All info can be found within 5 minutes of searching the web on this item............The OP has posted several of these same threads requesting the same info............In the words of Justin Timberlake "CRY ME A RIVER"

Thing is, if every time someone, somewhere, asked a question on the internet and the typical smartass response was a simple "go search google", the interwebz would be nothing but those responses.

I think his question was a perfectly reasonable one, unlike some of the shorter, "how do I scrap" or "how do I refine" crap that's often posted. He simply wanted to know if the price for a certain lot computers was a good one. It wasn't. It didn't require a snarky response telling him to quit pestering us with his questions. Why bother even responding then if that's all you're going to contribute the thread? Hell, even steering him towards where or how to begin to search for the value of those laptops(like ebay sold items) would be a better way to contribute to a conversation...
