There is also a difference between a collectors item and just an old computer.............For example a Dell computer from 10-12 years ago that was mass produced will probably never be a collectors item

I'm not offended in any way or form over the way that others may view me and the way that I Live. I have been me for my whole Life and I understand perfectly that I'm not "normal" and that there are really no popular pigeonholes of society that I fit in. Basically I could be classified as a custom designed eccentric as I'm a anomaly for sure.

Motives is a excellent subject. I'm not motivated by money, never was. I mostly view money as something you spend, not something you save. I understand that money makes the world go around and I try and have enough of it to keep my world moving along at a pace that I can try and keep up with.

I never cared much for the drama that causes stress. If I had been born back in the gold rush daze, I probably would of been in consumer goods sales selling pots, pans and other things that the prospectors required. What I'm saying is that I wouldn't be a gold rush prospector as that would bore me personally with all the standing in lines and crowds.

I never cared much for crowds and I find that the concept of parades and holidays are not for me.

I understand perfectly that most are of the opinion that I should do something more quickly. I have no good reason to do things quickly at this TIME. The way I view the yard is as if it's a TIME capsule that is in storage for the future when I get around to deciding just what I want to do with the different things.

The whole salvage yard concept has always been just a extra hobby for me. It has never been my means of making a Living, it's just gravy as I see it. I'm still busy chewing on the steak & potatoes, and consuming the gravy as I munch on the spuds. Then I have the veggies and salad, then there is desert and snacks.

That is how I view my yard and my Life. It's a smorgasbord of variety to keep me occupied from day to day.

Just WHAT is Life all about? I like a Life that makes me smile more then not. Life is what we make it as we are in the drivers seat of our own personal destiny and end.

Every computer since the Commodore 64 has been massed produced, people still collect C64's (granted when made in the millions they are not worth that much).

There are at least 2 kinds of collectors, people who want a machine of a specific vintage and don't care about brand just processor type and slots, and those who want specific brand/models because it means something to them (first computer maybe). There is a decent following for Packard Bell machines today, and those were the cheap mass produced dells of their day. One difference between the old Pentium 1 Packard Bells and a 10 year old DELL is that people paid a bunch of the PB and kept it in the attic while the 10 year old machines were much cheaper and went from being used to scrapped. You will be surprised in a decade how few of those P4 DELLs are still around thanks to the efforts of everyone here.

I am not saying you should hoard any old machine expecting a payday someday, just that we will all be surprised some day at what is collectable and what isn't.

I know I will enjoy going through the computer stuff around here now that I can research the items as I dig them out.

I have made great progress over the last few years getting to where I'm at with my plan for the yard.

I will be going outside not long after I post this as it's a nice enough day out. I have been out earlier today checking on a few things that I need for next week.

The world of salvage and scrap is always a interesting assortment of different eras.

I like the older stuff when I can use it. I still watch Beta and VHS tapes. So I like keeping a supply of players on hand. I found that with the DVD players that I could just as well buy the cheap ones new and use them until they quit working after about a year then get another one. I have found that the fancy DVD players can have many loading issues and be fussy about the media that is played on them. I prefer recorded tape over the disc format as I have less problems with the tapes and they are free to bargain priced these days. I just may have more movies then Turner classics after all the years of collecting up the video tapes. There are many Beta and VHS movies that bring $8.00 to $16.00 and some that will bring up to $30.00 or more as they are rare and not many were released on DVD. And if they were they are not cheap. I have a few movies that I keep a eye out for on eBay as I would like to have them to watch.

I suppose that all of this is related to vintage computers and their software in some shirt tail fashion.
