"What type of processor and what model how old.......COOL BOARD" The cpu is either the smaller board between the two larger boards or its one of the "flatpack" looking devices soldered directly to the MOBO. I think it was a Gateway 2000 laptop.
"How long to tear down?" Well it took me 20 minutes(about) but I am in no hurry. I refer to laptops as "Just one more DA*N screw" because it seems they have an unlimited supply of screws. My wife and I use 12V RYOBI drivers which can really make tear down faster. I trear down laptops while watching tv, checking email/
ebay/youtube.
I like doing the older laptops beause they are very differrent than the newer ones and sometimes there is a surprise inside like this one. Occasionally I find a ceramic cpu which is a nice bonus.
I had between 4-500 laptops on hand until recently when my wife and I started breaking them down. We're down to about 150 now.
Next with be the towers I have saved up(less than 100) each will be checked for potiential sales of the parts. The selling of the used parts gives a much higher return but also takes up a lot more time and effort. Fortunately this is the part that I enjoy most, testing and selling.
