Broken PC Boards - Does it Matter?

Does it matter to e-scrap buyers whether or not a PC board is whole or in pieces?

Does the board have to be whole to retain its full value? In other words, is value dimished if the board has cracked into several smaller pieces?

    Thanks.

Anything other than low grade boards I would leave intact. You may lose some if not most of the value by braking better grade boards up. I'm sure others will chime in if I am off base.

Whole boards are easier to identify, but breaking a board doesn't come close to what the refiner is going to do to it.

    Won't devalue it.

Under normal conditions of recycling it is hard to break those boards, why are you breaking them??? If your pulling stuff off the motherboards then you are devaluing them.

I'm only pulling select elements off of low-grade boards and sometimes whilst doing so they break. I'm not touching mid-grade boards or motherboards. They are left pristine.

While buyers do buy low grade board (.10/lb here), it is rarely worth saving it unless you have room.

Sure they are. Squeeze as many as you can in each batch you're driving to your buyer...cover Gas money!

I strive to throw nothing away that I can sell. Even screws go into a metal coffeecan & get tossed into the tin bin at the yard. I can definitely find room for a tote to throw junk boards into if I know it'll fetch me 5 or 6 bucks when I fill it up.

I agree, .15 at a yard where I sell some things to. Extra $20-30 per load helps cover the gas on a 3 hour round trip.
