Got my first car the other day

So i got my first scrap car the other day! Work has been so busy i havent had a chance to take to the yard yet. Next thing i know i have a note on my trailer saying a guy is interested in buying it. Finally able to meet up with him and he says its not in that great of shape. Now the only body damage it has it one fender by the headlight and the bumper has a few dents. It does run but leaks oil and needs a battery. Now he tells me that he just wants it for parts and what is the lowest i will take for it. So i through out $700 (it doesnt have a title but is free and clear of leins and all that good stuff). He says the most he could do is 300. I just wanted to laugh! As it sat scrape value is almost 450 Needless to say he didnt get it but said he will think it over. What do you all think?

He is one of those guys that post MILLIONS of ads saying they will be junkers up to 300 and after they part it out, they make a few hundred, to close to $2,000 more off of it.

I definitely wouldn't sell it to him, unless he gave you say $50 to $100 above scrap.

Not sure about CA, but in VA a simple bill of sale will suffice at my yard.

Which is all they ever get, as none of my junkers ever come with actual titles.

haha that's what I do, but I definitely don't make $2,000 per car. Maybe I need to post millions of ads, lol.

lol I was just saying...I have no idea what any of them make. However, their profit margins have to be **** good, in order to do what they do. Most people here, is all that they do!

Bought my first car too! In 1970. It was a 65 Biscayne. Got it for $35. Had a Chevy straight 6, 230ci I believe. Drove it, my brother, a cousin, and some other fella to a concert at gatlin creek Gatlin Creek Concert 1970 - Topix Left it to my brother when I headed for Florida (71 was a cold year in Dallas), last I heard it was stuck in some fresh cement on a new roadway there somewhere

Nice, gotta have title out here in cali or a lost title form signed by whoever the car is registered too. We have Pick N Pull auto dismantlers out here (you have one in Virginia Beach according to their website) and they verify everything. Most scrap yards around here require paperwork but some don't if you get in good with them, especially if what you're bringing them has been sitting forever and is no longer in the DMV records.

It's all I do too, but it's just enough to take care of my family and get by...no vacations to Turks and Caicos here.
