I find that non dangerous things keep crooks away much more than ones that come with a lawsuit

    1. a good lock
    2. motion sensor lights outside
    3. motion sensor lights inside
    4. a well lit area around your building so they don't have a place to sneak
    5. a "this property protected by x security company" even if it's not

All these will go a long way. Also make friends with the local bacon. Pick them up donuts, coffee, lunch. They will remember and make the extra effort to keep an eye on your stuff.

Lastly you can come up with some fun things. Like myself when i leave my garage i hook a small spring to my busted radio button and i crank the volume to the max. If some one opens the door, string pulls spring, radio blasts music. that wakes up my dog, that wakes me up, that wakes up my 12 gauge.

    Simple yet effective.
