Got an email and from a person for a frige and 2 hottubs???

What would you do ?
I got an email from a person saying that he has a frige and 2 hot tubs he would like removed the hot tubs have some small plumbing issues and bad covers.
I know I'm contradicting my self because I posted a thread about not turning things down but... I don't even know if it would be worth it and if it is don't know how to dump them.
I wrote him back stating that I would take the frige and was wondering what is wrong with the tubs.
These aren't something I would want to sit on and try selling.So again what would you do?

Scrap the motors and heaters from the hot tubs, use a circular saw to cut the tubs into manageable pieces to haul, and put on curb for large collection day, or take to the dump.

I think most people charge big for hot tub removal

I got a respirator and I would wear long clothing, $25 an hour is a fair rate.

i recently got a couple very large older copiers, it deserves it's own thread, but these things may well be the hot tubs of ewaste ; )

I charged a guy $120 to haul off a hottub. I originally quoted him at $150. It really shouldnt be less than $150 in my opinion. You will need 1-2 helpers (preferably 2) and depending where it is located a furniture dolly.

Things to keep in mind: Is the hottub already disconnected?, Is there some sort of canopy or roof structure that you have to demo also? (if there is some demo you will have to charge more), and is there easy access.

4 out 5 times the hot tub will be in poor condition and unable to resale.

I would just take it straight to the dump after ripping the recyclables out.

Can they be torn down on site?

I guess you could bring your saw and cut it up but, you would have to make sure that the owner is ok with that. I think it is more professional to just pick it up and do what you got to do with it on your own property, I guess that is my preference.

charge them or walk away. i would not touch it! there will be plenty more opportunities come along. I do not chase curb alerts, or work for free, for people on CL who are looking for someone to remove their trash for free. if they were worth a plug nickel, they would be trying to sell them on CL and not give them away. for me...FREE ... is NOT ... always a good deal!! my 2 BroJer

Ya I dont chase curb alerts either. There is no need to work like that in a rush when you could secure a job/pickup with a little bit of good communication and professionalism with the customer. I do occasionally do curb-alerts/first come first serve pick-ups if I am close and I know that I can get there before a half an hour from the time the post was listed. If It is over half an hour I assume that someone has already got the item. This has worked every time so far.

Ya dont work for free that is a no brainer. Sometime I see the post on CL that says "FREE FIREWOOD...................you cut down the tree and you haul it" haha what!? come on lets be a little more reasonable people of Craiglist.

I absolutely agree, make money or walk away. No one eles will do it for free, give him a wake up call.

I think every time someone does a job/pickup way under priced it sends the wrong message to customer that they can take advantage of people.
