I never stated I would not ship escrap. All I ever said, that I will not ship, is things that would cost way to much, like the PC power supplies, unless I got a whole gaylord box full at one time, and then used a LFL (or whatever the abbreviation is) to ship them.
Other things that are worth to ship like motherboards, pci cards, chips, etc I will ship.
However, if my local yard's main yard in DC about 40 minutes from me, will buy it all, and all I have to pay is $20 or so dollars for some gas, that to me is the way to go, as long as their prices are the same or better.
However, that is not to say that I still wouldn't send in stuff to people like ewasted, and easyrecycles, as I will do that as well, as a way to say thanks for teaching me here and there the escrap part of this business.
I have 1 of those chips myself right now, and if I had 1lb worth, I ship it right in.
Only thing I have ever really asked if certain items were worth shipping...Just because any buyer offers an awesome price, doesn't mean you come out on top. They are giving you their price per lb, but that doesn't say what you will pay for in shipping and so on.
First trip to the local scrap yard tomorrow - starting a new thread then if anyone is interested in an update
Yes were are.
Ah, the joys of people who feel turning up = pay. Not results or effort, just showing up and mooching :)
Are you ebaying any of the parts, or just breaking it up? Lots of people love themselves some old computers, especially Apples. Some of them have stuff like Woz and Job's signatures inside the case, and some people will buy the cleaned up cases to put a new machine in, as you can cram a mac mini into pretty much anything :)
More Pictures!!! Here are the processors that I have come across so far:

and here is an interesting thing - It was in the plastic thing that the processors are usually in but I've never seen one like it before...

I wonder how much you make on average with those older PCs
Thanks for the updates, Julie! Keep them coming!
just a FYI, I don't pay My employee drive time.. they get paid for work... and Julie,, its not easy hiring friend they think they can just slack off, use a service like Labor Ready or temp people.. they are wanting to make money.. and if youve a problem.. you contact them.. and they will handle it..
Thats My suggestion good luck.. and btw the looks of that scrap.. you might have some good High grade boards in them old computer..
best thing to do ,,, like bear says.. look it up.. see if there any value.. if not.. scrap em.. but I would keep the high grade boards.. seperate from your everyday motherboards.. just incase they are loaded with more ic's and good componets...
If You've any quesiton please feel free to Pm.. Thanks.
I was just scanning over this thread and thinking "I didn't do this last month..." then I looked at the year and felt a little better because if I had forgotten something like this in less than a month it wouldn't be a good thing. lol Jeeze - a year already?
Done & done! Sorry about that! I don't know why it was full though....
