Thanks for giving us an update. Sorry it turned out to be such a pain in the butt. Especially with the help. You bought them lunch that day. That is enough. They refused to work fark them.

Good morning! I didn't leave until well after midnight but i didn't want to leave any of that stuff out there because someone would've stolen it. I'll take pictures when i get there this morning. There isn't as many monitors as it looks like there is too. I was starting to worry a little when it was mentioned a couple of times.

Yeah there are a few of them are the IIgs and I'm pretty sure that the monitors that go with them are there as well. I wasn't able to get all of the stuff off of the property that day which I'm regretting now. There may still be a way to get it though...

Just a note : I want to put my stamp of approval on the raid foggers. I threw one in the back when we left the 1st day, one in the back for the drive home on sunday and one more (just in case) when we got the truck to the shop sunday night and I have not seen one live bug. Which makes me very happy!

It looks like a good haul. I hope you make a profit.

Not sure I would be calling those people my "friends" at this point if I were you. Friends want you to do well and care about what you are going through as well as what they are going through. Just my thoughts. Sounds like you've been a friend to them, but maybe not the other way around.

I just can't believe the audacity to ask for pay when they didn't do any (or much) work.

The audacity knows no bounds! I popped on here just to share this : I got another text that said "Can we get paid?" I'm not a confrontational person but the bill is getting close to $200 now so I figured that it needed to be addressed. I sent a message saying "we have been discussing that - How much do you think that you've earned?" (Morbid curiousity not only killed the cat it has done far worse) I got a quick reply of "$100.00" If I was standing I would've fallen over. WHAT?!? so after the shock value wore off a little I sent back "Can you give us a breakdown of where you came up with this?" That was an hour ago and I have yet to receive a reply. What i am really hoping to accomplish with this is to get them to actually think about what they are saying and then be able to justify/explain it to someone. I'm not a bad person - I'm just trying to be realistic about it. I honestly can't wait to hear their answer though considering their first one was so... I really can't find a word to describe it... interesting maybe?

They look like either 5" floppy drives or zip drives at least on top, further down looks like standard floppy drives.

do an invoice of cost including extra cost incured because they didnt do what they contracted to do. include extra milage and rental. amertise there pay by the hour based on an 8 hr day. put your extra cost incured at the top deduct their actual earned income . include a bill for the ballance they owe you.

    We all are!

lol @ $100 for doing nothing. I'd be curious how they arrived at that number as well.

As for the remaining material, is it worth going back for? If not, might try a CL ad closer to the area for someone to go grab and cut your losses.

Good idea on cutting the losses. Whenever I get a job I try to get the high value items first. In this case, load all the computers first and then fill in spaces with monitors. That way if it is not possible to get back to the site for the last bit, you already have the majority of the payoff.

Julie, if you're hiring to sit in the truck in the AC, I'm available. I have a lot of experience (in my own truck, other people always seemed to want me to get out and work) and I promise not to get in your way. And I only expect $30/hr (plus lunch, of course).
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

Good call on simplifying their thought process in determining how much they really did...hopefully the light bulb finally lights up for them and they realize how little they actually contributed.
