    Sometimes You just gotta Laugh...

I went to an Auction, which is a good place to pick up tools by the way, and ended up with a child's car. Was a bunch of junk included, so I thought what the heck. Gotta be a motor and battery in it. Battery was 6 volt and smaller than a lawn mower battery. It had two motors, which both would fit in the palm of my hand. Good thing I got all of it for only$1. Live and learn I guess. Have a good day scrapping......

One of my uncles used to say "might as well's to laugh, it sure won't do any good to cry" ; )

You should see the motors in an auto adjustable side rear view mirror

i think we've turned into a plastic, throw away society. I've thought a lot recently about the changes that have been taking place in our country over, well, since WWII actually. Everything used to be made with metal, even the toys were all made of metal then, but plastic slowly began to be more prevalent. I pass by several daycare centers going into town, and seeing the playground toys etc always outside are nothing but plastic. Every time I pull into my Mom's drive up there, the kid next door has their big playhouse(all plastic) with all the appliances(all plastic), little play car (all plastic). Driving down the highway yesterday I noticed so many vehicles with broken and cracked fenders etc (all plastic). At the lake I was standing by a little pickup with the right front bumper damaged to where you could see inside it(all plastic, excepting for one small square tube going across to help hold it straight). Last week I scrapped some printers, a 93 IBM (personal or small office size) nearly 20 lb of steel, an 04 personal or home office sized all-in-one, not even a pound of real steel in it

I've got you beat. I bid on some electric motors in an online auction a couple weeks ago. Won the auction for the min bid of just $6 with fees. Thought for sure I struck gold, these things looked HUGE in the picture. Go to pick them up, they were about the size of RC car motors. All I could do was chuckle at the creative camera work.

That can go both ways BR. I once bought some things from an online auction, and thought I had picked it all up, but later while calling to ask about an upcoming lot, the guy at the warehouse(where I'd been many times before) says "you know you've still got these floor sweepers out here don't ya?". I had no clue, but later saw there was something I couldn't quite make out in one of the small thumbnail photos. He kinda laughed and said "these things ain't gonna fit in your little truck". Turned out to be 2 full size walk behind floor buffers, with chargers, weighed over 800 pounds each. I wound up having to rent a truck just to get them home.

Amen Bear...whatever happened to making cars out of metal, or at the very least the bumpers? That's what bumpers do...bump stuff. I had an old Volvo for 10+ years. When I moved to Denver it was involved in 4 hit and runs (all when it was parked). The most damage that it sustained was a few dents and dings and a smashed hubcap. If this were a newer car it would have been totalled 3 times over. BTW...I paid $1000 for it 10 years ago and sold it a few months back for $800. Talk about holding its resale value!
