    First time scrapper

After scrapping with a few buddies of mine at the late hours of the night for extra cash I have found a true passion of scraping. Of course the scraping that was being done wasn't very professional I wanted to changed that. Me and my dad went to the scrap yard for the first time together day. Only made 30 bucks but it was a learning experience. Had a little copper that I got out of 2 old TVs I asked if I could have, stainless still dad had got, and other metal. Just hoping for some tips. Before writing this I was waiting for a friend at his apt and found his dumpsters had some DVD players in them. Only took the cord and little copper on them. Anyways just Hoping for tips. Thank you all.

What is the difference between copper #1 and #2. When bringing in my copper today I had a ball of copper got from some wires., they were kinda thick.. the young Guy at the scrap yard said it was #1 but when weighing my copper it was all together as #2. I'm assuming #2 is thin copper wires out of TVs and such.. also had a bag of insulated wires (.60) they ask what kinda wires were in it? Anyway just wondering the differences

Aluminum goes in different pile, not worth as.much or near as heavy as copper but it all adds up.

Keep your aluminum cans separate. There are several catagories for aluminum and they're listed in the scrapmonster tab at the top of the page. Here's a link: Aluminum Cans Scrap Price in 22 Jun 2012

If you click on the pictures it will give you a better idea of what goes into each catagory.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....
