Recycling aluminum beer cans vs "open container" laws?

Talking about the open alcoholic container laws when it comes to aluminum beer cans. Luckily there are no "open container" laws in my state, but before I found out about it I was always afraid of getting in trouble for the crushed cans I run across & throw in a small container I keep in my vehicle by some cop looking to make his unofficial ticket quota for the month. I always have a few found aluminum cans in my vehicle at any given time.



DO you ever worry about it?

Only if they're half full and warm, the long haul truckers pee in them before tossing.

never carry one in the cab

I gotta say that laws a really sucky law.
We don't have anything like it here except for 'no alcohol' laws that are council area bylaws, not Goverment laws.

They exclude alcohol in these areas, normally city centres. So people have to get into a bar, then buy alcohol & drink it,no alcohol ends up on the street.

If they're empty and you haven't been drinking, you should be fine. It would take one huge a-hole of a cop to try to ticket you for that.
All you'd really need to do is show up at court on the date on the ticket and tell the judge that you spend a lot of time scrapping.
As long as you don't have any alcohol in your system, you should be fine.

Trucker bombs. They usually are in the form of milk jugs or gateraid bottles. And I know a guy who always has cans in the pickup bed beer pop ect... He's never had a problem and he's done that since I've know him over 12 years.

I looked into that law im in north carolina and i found out that if the can is not in the cab with u like in the trunk they cannot get u for an open container it has to be out reach of u

In liberal taxachusetts there's all kind of crazy laws for open containers etc especially even harsher if your under 21

Most police officers exercise good judgment and common sense, especially if there are multiple cans ("Yes, officer, I drank over 300 beers for lunch..."). But in the interest of removing any possible suspicion, either bag 'em up or put 'em in the trunk.

Nope they dont(anger management)....i take my cans in on one run..all in the trunk n backseat of my car. While im pickin they go in the trunk..like stated above, if I was able to drink 300 beerz do u think i would be driving..easy to get away w having bags..takr pics if necessary..time to get the empties from the backseat..lol.jk

It may stress the bounds of credulity, but not all states have open container regulations. Almost all do, but a few don't, though that hardly would excuse any idiotic or hazardous conduct on anyone's part.

Here in the Province of Ontario, beer cans are worth ten cents each, when you take them back to the Beer Store, so nobody throws them away.

After a week end party, the empty can refund money may be enough to get you a free 24.

I do not worry about it, when I find one I either throw it into the bed of my pickup, or if I am in my car when I pick it up it goes into a medium size plastic bucket in my trunk. None are in the cab of either vehicle. Do not have to worry about the law and keeps the vehicle cleaner.
