Week started with me reposting my cl ads for scrap computers last Friday morning. Out of 6 responses 3 are going to pay off, one REALLY BIG. First pick up was today from a guy who won a storage locker with a nice amount of computers. Got 26 complete towers all pre 2000, 2 dell poweredge servers, 30# box of finger cards,7 motherboards all high grade, 15 power supplies w/wires, 2 laser printers, 3 dot matrix printers, box of keyboards(no clicky ones) and mice,ups,40 hardsdrives, 2# of ram, and assorted processors. 5 processors are the 486 chips 5 were slot processors. Paid $150.
Next job is starting tomorrow- computer repair shop that is located in guys back room of his home. He stated that he is overflowing with scrap computers, video surveillance, lan systems, modems and the like. Then he asked me if i was interested in copper wire? I met with him last sunday and it turns out that he is also an inventor. The copper wire he spoke of he invented and is called" Lightning Strike Resistant Wire". He holds all the patents and was marketing it to airports in the south east for their runway lights. Problem was the cost to manufacture was something like 60k for 100,00ft. So his deals fell thru. Anyway we are getting three or four spools of the stuff, and all computers and electronics that we pull out from under his back porch... and from what i can see it is LOADED. Yesterday while clearing space for computers, he calls and said he put out a washer & dryer for us and that he is going to let us remove ALL the electronics that are in his shed and under the other side of the porch which he originally didnt want to get rid of. He said that he lived there for last 17 years and has been putting stuff under porch for the last 15years. I originally offered him $200 but said he only wants $100 and a clean job done.
Third one is a former scrapper who is no longer scrapping says he has 5 or 6 towers, some printers, batteries and some other things. Meeting with him Friday evening.
I will post some pics when I can, but right now I am going to hit the rack since we have an early start tomorrow.
Thanks to all here that have posted the information and knowledge that has lead me from curb shopping in March to being able to aquire jobs like these.
