There are several threads on the forum that will describe how to get certified to handle the materials and recover them. It will open a new recycle material for you. I am certified but don't use it because of physical limitations. I got the certification through the local community college. I understand that the training can be done online. I assure you that the test is not difficult if you study. There is more than the test, you have to learn how to use the equipement as well. Best of luck, Mike.

I think they are requiring you to be more than just certified to properly handle the freon by the EPA. I think it also has to deal with being able to show that you have a license such as a masters to be able to work on the unit's. Any body can get certified by the EPA to handle freon, but that still does not make it legal in a lot of areas for you to work on A/C system's unless you are working for a company/individual with a master license.Originally Posted by miked
