Finally had a good week, been a long dry spell.

I have been struggling along getting one or two pieces at a time for quite some time now. I spotted an ad on C.L. and went to look at the merchandise and ended up buying 30 misc. "computers" on a pallet for $100. Well I ended up with 2 Dell servers in the bunch, along with 3-4 partially empty cases. Still came out ok. Then yesterday met a guy and bought all his escrap before he hauled it to the local yard. I got over 205 lb of heatsinks, motherboards, fingercards, HD's, PS's, CPU's, Ram, drives, and wire for $140. I feel like I'm in hoggy heaven, not a big score like some of you guys get, but a good week to me,,, "not a whale but a good sized bluegill" lol

Pallet of towers = blue fin tuna in my book. Nice going and at a good price for them. Nice price for the other stuff too. Can they be a steady supplier for you?

Possibly the guy with the misc. stuff broken down maybe. He's advertising the next town over with brochures and getting this stuff free so I went just above the local scrapyard (pricewise) and he was happy. Hopefully it was not the last time.
The pallet load (there were 3 total) came out of a storage unit that these people bought and was reselling. I took the best pallet.
Pallet #2 had at least 8-9 empties on it, I don't call that one a bargain. And their older, and some of the cases are really outdated, so not much resale value there.

The older the towers the better the grade of boards and lots more pretty gold proc chips. Also if they are older towers like IBM look into them before breaking down. There are people that will buy at better than scrap value even if they aren't in working condition.

I have gotten some of my best computer towers from people who buy a locker and then don't know how to move them. Have a guy now who is actively looking for them since I pay $5 each for them.

Unfortunately I already scrapped a desktop IBM.

Everytime I turn around it jumps back to a default date, so it's been 2005 for quite a while now.

Define "empty"? bare case? no PS or Mobo?

Yes, totally empty except for the wires for the switch, and one side panel (and sometimes the front) missing.

I ended up with over 30 lb of M.B's, 6 lb of fingercards, 25 lb of HD's, 2 lb of CPU's, 2 lb of ram, and almost 60 lb of drives, not counting the full towers. That was just the second load. can you say,"happy dance" ??

Glad to hear the "Good Guys" are getting some action!
