it was like christmas morning

neighbors got evicted today and got a great load tv computer 2 monitors router microwave 360 games season 2 dragon ball z books mini fridge working i can sell some and alot of nic nacs so it was awesome wish more people would sad to say that though lol.

When I lived in the city I'd see piles a lot, after the poor folks couldn't get by, probably out trying to make a payday while the Sheriff's office was having their belongings dragged out to the curb, and people dancing up and down the street with all their property they had claimed. I never once stopped at one of those piles, and I never will

This is not what i thought by " X-mas morning" Well, for me today it was like x-mas morning. I get up to let the dogs out and next to the garage door was a air compressor, weight set bar with 60 lbs of weights, and a box of misc computer cables. I think thanks to the person who gave me that but I found out it was my sisters boyfriends stuff from his old house. The air compressor works fine so im ganna give it to my dad. hes been eyeing it all day.

So, does it count as evil if I took stuff from my brothers foreclosure? When it happened to him we spent a week emptying his house into 3 huge storage units..and my storage unit...and my garage...anyway I came out with some computer towerswall cabinets and a little furniture...

And honestly I wouldnt feel bad taking items from a foreclosure. HEAR ME OUT. With my brother, they were aware of their foreclosure for almost a year. The bank even contacted them and offered to PAY them to vacate by a certain date and clean the house themselvs. My stubborn ass sister in law refused, which led to a smaller relocation offer, to which was refused again. Finally the bank gave them a date and time the sheriff would be there, and a week before was a frantic scramble to, as previously stated. On the day the sheriff showed up a clean out company showed up to remove what was left. Usually they would move items to their own location and hold for 60 days, in our case they moved it to the 3rd storage unit they rented. The workers told me how much it sucked to do this work, how sad it was, but also bragged about the items they got to keep...electronics, collectables, furniture, even cash...

So from the foreclosure I experienced, I wouldnt feel bad receiving (or taking) items. It may just be my area that operates this way though.

To piggy back on what Gnraxlrose said, when someone gets evicted from their rental property, they have PLENTY of time to figure out what they are going to do before the sheriff arrives.

The laws vary from state to state but for the most part you have 30 to 45 days, if not longer, to pack up and make arrangements. And in many cases once the court rules in favor of the landlord and the order is sent to the sheriff, the tenant can't do anything to stop it, even if he the has cash in hand on eviction day.

Also, when the sheriff shows up, it's LONG after you missed that last rent payment. Evictions don't come as an unexpected surprise. It's just that the tenant has pushed the limits of what they could get away with until the sheriff showed up with the court order.

So while I wouldn't wish for someone's misfortune for my own gain nor would I gloat about it, I can't feel but so bad for someone who waits until the sheriff shows up to do something about their situation. I've been evicted twice in my life and in each situation I never had to be forcibly removed.

So having said that, the pile is free for all as soon as the sheriff leaves.

I am a landlord, and have done an eviction. That being said, I can't imagine just ganking all of my neighbors stuff without at least trying to get a hold of them about it. Who knows, maybe they'd say "take what you want". At least my conscience would be clear after hearing that. To a landlord who is owed back rent it's all fair game, but to a neighbor how about being neighborly? JMHO

An eviction pile can look like a trash pile, especially on trash night. I would not scrap out of an eviction pile, if I know that's what it is.

i wanted to reply to this cause of all the craziness of things and do not want to start something bad or anything like that but when someone gets evicted its their own fault no one else and there is no excuse for this because landlords at least credible ones. they want you to live there and are very willing to work with you if you are with them people only get evicted because of the bad choices they have made that led them to this for example the 3 xbox 360 games i got were used sure but they were not bought that way so thats $180 right there. they did not spend on rent let alone anything else they could have sold beds table dressers mini fridge and so on that even a fast sell could have raised $200-300 more and thats rock bottom prices no pun intended. rent there is $450 so all that said there was no need to be evicted in the first place its called responsibility and living with in your means. i never will feel bad for people in this situation because there is no excuse even medical or other emergency situations landlords when presented with proof thats its not some lie to get out of paying will work with you. not to mention this sat outside for almost 4hrs plenty of time to do something about it even if just sitting there telling people its yours is still doing something. also for those who do think and feel bad about me doing this i am sure it is still possible for me to get ahold of these people since it has not been along time and you all could send some money so they can buy some awesome new stuff or maybe pay there rent for them since its not their responsibilty too.

It's like this, everyone has too eat. Yeah, dude came on here pretty excited about making money on his neighbors misfortune. But look at the crowd we have here at SMF. Everyday theirs someone posting a topic about how they're making so much money off this, or so much money off that. This guy wanted to contribute and tell everyone about his first pretty good find. So he spiced it up with "it was like christmas morning". I don't understand why people would jump down his throat about it. Pretty reactionary on your part.

Sorry I stand by my first post. Refering to an eviction or foreclosure items as "christmas morning" may have been a poor choice of words. However..he followed it up with "wish more people would get evicted" Perhaps a dark sense of humour, or perhaps he is a predatory opprotunist. People have to eat...yes...but let's not feed the homeless to the hungry.
