Jose21, these are processors also known as CPU's they are on the motherboards in computers. On the mother board is an alluminum heat sink, take that off and under it is the CPU, lift the little lever up and the CPU will lift right out.

I just can't believe all the old computers i used to find pre scrap era, and all went to the curb. I had many 486's 386 286 XT AT BUT many pent pro types and many had the clock speed of 66 100 133 AMD's , had a dual processor 400 mhz that ran win NT, ah gota stop beating my self up over it I did manage to keep lots of mem and have about 50 computers to tear down as of now but the slowest oldie i have now might be a 166 mhz

I have some gold color chips some place that i did manage to save - just have to find them.
Not to change the subject but a while back I went and picked up a carload of low grade boards (TV) from a retired TV repairman. These are older transistor type, not tube, but as I'm pulling the usual off the boards, what do I spy??? A 3 legged transistor (flat) standing up like a little soldier with gold legs and back. I have to go back thru the boards to make sure I didn't miss any more, but back in the day gold was cheap and the better quality components had it on or in them. Don't just dismiss all the low grade stuff.
Also here is what you would think was a low grade board but if you look close you will see that the traces are gold and not copper. Look them over carefully before you just throw them in the shred pile.

Even true low grade is not really low grade as by me see they actually take it as copper bearing so if you spice it correctly with other CB you get good weight .
I think I sent a couple to ewasted last month and got around $40.....Easy and quick turnover....LOLQuote:

Nice find! I only found two out of about 250 towers and servers. Both were on dual socket boards but only had one CPU installed. I also got two more in a pile of CPU's I bought locally.
