    I usually test and sort PCs, looking of course, for "more than scrap" in either working and usable or vintage computers, or better than scrap or vintage parts. I'm fairly familiar with doing this as I've been working in computers for a number of years now. In your case, they came from someone who also works in computers, so it wouldn't be likely to find many working/usable computers there. That might save you the time necessary for the first step anyway



    You might still find it worthwhile to check some of the laptops on Ebay to see what they might be going for
