buddy left mad

So my brother-n-law calls me, tells me he just bought a hoarder house to fix up and sell. He tells me theres 3 fridges, 1 washer, 1 cast iron sink, 1 forced air heater, and 1 deep freezer. Im like cool ill come get it.So i call my buddy and see if he makes to make a few bucks. Hmm i get there 2 of the fridges are from 1932. really bad shape holes rusted in them. no chance for restore and resell. the sink i have to take out and demo counter to have it. didnt really complain bout that. love demo and big sledge. So we figure we wld get the 2 1932 fridges out the basement first. We get the first one up. had to be a lil over 200lbs. so we go for the 2nd one its just a lil bigger. it weights lil over 225 lbs. took 30mins to get it up the stairs. it was older house narrow stairs. After we get the fridge on the truck he looks at me says %$&^ you i am never helping u again. Take the money and shove it up ur a$$. I was like wow. He was winded and tired.

Sad cause the guy is 6 ft 4in 250lbs and he had the light end. lmfao im only 5'10 180lbs and i was ready to get the fridge from 2nd floor.. needless to say i managed to get the fridge off the 2nd floor by tossing it over the balcony and the sink i carried out myself it was only 125lbs. still have to go back for the washer and also he has a tv from 1948 there for me also. weird lil tv metal case flat piece of glass over the screen. just thought i wld share. guess scrapping isnt for everyone. oh and total weight for the 2 when i got to the yard was 368 lbs after i my freon guy empty it and i removed the condensors.

Jobs like that should be paying you more than in scrap. A bonafide company rate would be at least $100 per appliance, PLUS added charge per flight of stairs. Your buddy had a reason in being dissappointed, you really, IMHO, owe him at least a six pack and some sort of apologetic gesture for getting him into that

lol i did it more as a favor for brother in law. Dont really blame buddy for being mad. I had planned to give him what i got at scrap yard for the 2 old fridges but he told me off before i could tell him so i took the 2 fridges in and just got off phone with him. hes more then happy with the $35 that i got for scrap, and on his way here now for the cash. I told him it wasent going to be easy. He laughed at me cause of his size and said if i cld do it he cld so i dont feel that bad. But i will for sure be charging next time family or not. I might not even remove them from houses anymore after this one. ill take them if there at the curb or in garage.

thats why scrapping isnt for wimps!

i found that out the hard way myself sweeney, with two huge old copiers, one on the second floor. I hauled them off for free, when I should have been paid at least $250. At least I got other goodies out of the deal, including some old computers. I hope you find a market for that old TV, 1948 has got to be a collectors item. There is quite likely a vintage TV forum somewhere, or at least you might find info on the vintage computers forum, about an old TV forum maybe, parts alone could be very valuable

I wasn't talking about "the work", I was referring to "being paid" for the work, which Any worker has a right to expect

it was dark in the basement and cldnt see the glass that well. i did look up the model tv it was and there going for anywhere from $150 to $400 depending condition. i still have to plug it in and see if it works. was pressed for time so just put it in garage till later when i go out there for busy work

Scrapping has made me stronger. I got a buddy that loves helping me load stuff up as long as he gets to put a boom stick in it. I let him sometimes that's how the motor gets out of it lol.

I feel stronger from scrapping - but lately it has been tearing me down a bit - like i feel it in my bones when i pick up a 100 lb TV , Amazing how some of us yank a heavy TV around for 1 1/2 lb of copper The aches will pass

no thats why theres no margines left in scrap you should have been paid to remove thouse units min 100 for the schlepping
