Hey auminer, normally I take my scrap to suburbia, but this yard was a mile and a half (versus 22 miles) from the school we were cleaning out, I didn't know about the licensing requirement, and we had sixteen loads of scrap. The job paid me over 8 grand (yes, we were PAID to remove everything AND we got to keep the scrap) so all in all it was a nice score. Had we gone anywhere else the gendarmes would never have known we were hauling scrap. One of the reasons I love enclosed trucks.

Ah, memories... Here's the photo I took of the cop with our trucks blocked in.![]()

TO BRASSCATCHER and all others that say "Unfortunately they have to enforce laws that seem trivial to us, but remember most would rather be catching the bad guy instead of getting numbers so the higher ups can toot their own horns" These cops are people just like you and me and I know for a fact that they can and do pick and choose what laws to enforce. The cop that stopped BurlyGuys in Detroit was just being a lazy douchebag it was easier for him to mess with some guy trying to recycling his stuff than to get the real crooks. Also that License crap is only there to help the city make money as we all know Detroit is one of the poorest city in our country.

There are douchebags in every profession...scrapping as well....btw thanks I have never been singled out in a response before.

Okay, here is the final upshot of all this. I went Friday April 26th to my final court date, the one where the judge ascertains that I did indeed pay the fine and after 90 days haven't gotten into any other "trouble."
I get my final dismissal and the court clerk gives me my paperwork and tells me "hang on to this FOREVER. Put it in a safe or safety deposit box."
Um, why?
Well because sometimes we eff up, and stuff isn't recorded properly, and you could end up being arrested by mistake.
Are you mother-effing kidding me?
I want to burn the city of Detroit to the ground and start over. (Dear Big Brother, this is a figure of speech and I intend no harm to anyone.)
But ****!
