    finally an ewaste call

Finally got a call for ewaste that wasn't just like one computer.. it was an old at home repair place.. Bunch of 386/486's...Got my first gold e-proms too.
Boxes of HG boards, HD's, fans etc..Misc parts.

Then of course, while I'm tearing down this computer that was actually like a briefcase, screw driver slips and my hand gets sliced open on the aluminum case... yay!

Atleast my wife will be glad to know that I used my other hand to catch dripping blood in the house

Oh that sucks! But also, that's awesome! Sounds like a nice load. I'll take one to the hand any day if it means a load of 386/486 machines.

I still have trouble reading these post's as I remember having XT AT 286 386 486 and more as lets face it once 1995 hit people really wanted nothing to do with them
but I had fun just turning them on and catching up on technology ( I back tracked to DOS) . In the back of my mind I just figured they would have value as antique's many years from now - as they probably will since the gold rush is creating mass dismantling , I guess it's time to try my hand at CL to see my luck .

Totally. I buy pretty decent ones, and I still manage to absolutely shred them after a few e-scrap loads.

A computer in a briefcase? I hope you checked it for more than scrap value prior to dismantling

Shoot no, I don't do that. I barely have enough time to dismantle stuff, let alone spend hours researching what it could possibly be or worth or the space to store/ship stuff.. I'll take my $2 and be on my way to something else.

I never wear gloves. Not even on mattresses. They just always seem to be more of a burden than a help. You could call this a bit reckless, but then again I'd prefer that over being too safe.

    I get a choice, and I choose.

You might try a pair of Mechanic's wear gloves, if their good enough for Nascar they should be good enough for us. Almost indestructible.
