911 for the Nitty Gritty scrapper

Maybe I am just a little worried for no reason BUT as I was working my scrap to day I see what a daunting task i have created , even as I run into other scrappers fewer are like me - as I try to capitalize on what I find, down to the Nitty Gritty , If there is a coin name I am a Nitty Gritty scrapper & some times I do give up on some pieces & let it go Tin but not often . I see the wealth if I persist & thats my dream , I could see that a person could collect enough and most important , as long as your healthy you could start to work on items you have save for decades as an old codger .
This post though is for the here and now - IF I DIE - what sense will my wife and kids make of the stuff I collected . I have educated my kids as to the value and to sell as per metal type , but for real help I feel the only people I can trust to advise them and have them push on are the members here . I don't want to die as who does and I am grateful each day I am vital but one day as even some of you ; we will pass on with what might look like a hoarding sickness .
We need to develop a support network of sorts for the regretful day of need . The help can be one on one talks and more if possible
well it's just a thought I know I'd be there if some needs me .

I ran into a strange situation when my friend when to jail.

he had been hoarding a lot of high value scrap on the side of his father's house for months without cashing in. Then he got locked up for doing stupid things. He is still locked up and i went to visit him 6 days ago. anyway, his father called me and asked me if i wanted the scrap. it was a mixed feeling i had, but when he told me "i just want the stuff gone. it looks terrible on the side of my house" i agreed to take it.

between a little bit of my own, and his, that was a $300 load of scrap. it benefit us both, and i told my boy when i went to visit, and he understood and was ok with it. the police seized his truck anyway when he was arrested. But i came to help his dad, and got a good load.

is this anything like what you meant? somewhere for your people to turn when they are left with your stuff in the unfortunate event of your death? like who to ask about what? and how to handle your unfinished scrap business or possibly take it over should you die? that could be valuable to loved ones, but im not sure i fully understood your suggestion

Good topic. I have a mountain of aluminum and motors in the garage along with a 55 gal of copper. Along with a trailerful of ferrous. My wife was confused at first but understands there is value in everything I've stashed. I do not hoard but generally have somethings laying around.

Perhaps leaving your yards info on the fridge or some simple directions on what to do in case the unforseen happens. as silly as it may seem; if you have enough value in your stash state it in your will. Or, at least, verbalize This may be helpful to those you leave behind. Especiallyif you don't have life insurance or savings.

I think you can take certain steps to lessen your worries on this matter, although, depending on your other activities, and the extent of their diversification, you'll never completely convey your nitty gritty wishes for everything. I can also see your similarity to hoarding analogy, but try to keep in mind these things are all material, and if your life is based merely on material possessions, what a sad life indeed. Invest deeply into your life, marriage, friends, and family, and not only will you reap the great benefits of such pleasurable pursuits, and find yourself closer than ever to being happy inside, you will also be closer to yourself and to them, and when such a time as you're contemplating preparedness for ( i doubt anybody ever really knows beforehand when their number's coming up ), your friends and family will already have the answers you want them to have, knowing that you chose to put them ahead of anything material, and spent the extra time together when you had the chance, they'll then know you well enough that any questions about your wishes will be much easier for them to answer

no, but i bought his car from him so he could afford an attorney

His dad actually tried to pay me to remove it... But I assured him the scrap value was enough for my effort. And his dad is the one who took power of attorney and sold me the vehicle at my friends request
