Question about whether to sell or scrap washers

I was out and I had 2 washers in my truck. I was approached by someone that repairs washers. He wants kenmore or whirlpool. He said he would offer 15 for black top ones and 20 for the white top ones. I have never taken in just one wasgher so I do not know the exact breakdown of one. I can weight the wires and motor but the rest I can't. Does anyone know if this is a good deal or should I take them apart?

I'd be on that all day long - but that's just me. Some stuff I love breaking down, others I hate. Something like washers and dryers I prefer to turn and burn as fast as possible.

The Whirlpool/Kenmore direct drive washers he's looking for weigh around 125 pounds. There's a little over a pound of insulated wire in them and the motor is aluminum windings. Most re-builders pay 25.00 each for them.

If it was me I'd sell them. I prefer to turn things quickly and look for more. Sometimes waisting time breaking everything down doesn't pay. Even you loose a couple bucks you save yourself an hours work which can be used for more profitable finds. You're not going to make much more than that scrapping them.

Then again a lot of people on here tell me I'm wrong.

I'd sell them for a straight $20 a unit and hopefully cultivate a relationship with him. Repair guys generate a lot of scrap parts and he probably gets a lot of leads on woreout washers and dryers from those that buy from him. Give him a handful of business cards if you have them.

    Good luck!
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

Yeah I like the $20 a piece route myself. I think I would take that deal anytime if it ment I didnt have to break them down to make the same $20.

I say if he was willing to offer $20 he'd also be willing to pay $25. Make good with him, shake his hand and tell him you'll bring every one you come across to him.

I tried to deal with him but he is firm on what he pays. $20 and $15 each. As for the scrap washers they take them in theirselves. I see them out there a few time a week tearing them apart. So as for the line up that a no go.
I will take them to him since it's close to the same and I don't have to waste my time with them.
    Thank you all very much.
