Exact Change?

Hi guys. I don't know if this the right section, but does your yard pay you with exact change or do they round it up to the next dollar? One of the yards I go to does this, and I was wondering if y'alls does this too. For example, if my weights add up to a total of $41.65, they pay me $42.00. Thanks!

All of the yards I have been to pay exact. One yard adds a piece of candy (tootsie roll) to the $.

Usually exact change, I hate when places round up even thou it's in my favor as I like to keep the copper cents!!

I just thought it is weird because it would seem that they would loose a lot of money off of doing this. Those few cents add up after a while. (for them and me)

However, I been using my steel yard for everything, because they take a lot of non ferrous stuff, that the other yard doesn't take, and they also give me better pricing a lot of times.

ha, that's funny, the one I use is the exact opposite. Steel yard does exact change, and non ferrous is a rounder.

Both of my yards use to round up or down to the dollar, but now since everything is new they go to the quarter instead of the dollar.

All cash for me. Never gotten a check, then again, my biggest haul was 1500 pounds of tin and iron in 5 hours. yea, not to much.

Coins are extra weight and bulk in my wallet that I try to minimize. I don't carry a coin bucket.

Yes cash, before the only way we would get a check if the MAC Machine was down or they we reloading it with money.....The old machine was encased in a stone building but the machine held $750,000.

They probably don't even worry about it because they make money hand over fist when they resell it.

When my yard runs out of change, they round up. Even on the scale, they round up.

The other day I brought in a pile of wire in a big plastic tub that probably weighed a couple of pounds. The guy told me to put the whole thing, plastic tub and all, on the scale. It teetered between 21 and 22 lbs. So he wrote it up for 22.

I hope you are checking the dates on all the.50 cent pieces, could be some big money there if they are old.

My steel yard pays exact, by check.
My battery buyer rounds down to the nearest dollar, but they do the same when you are buying parts from their yard.
My core buyer rounds up.
My non ferrous buyer rounds up to the nearest quarter.

Yeah in michigan anything over $50 cant be paid in cash so most people get checks to avoid atm fees and such. My prefered scrap yard pays on an in house atm and therfore only in dollars. They round as well and ya walk out with cash like its supposed to be. That holds true for ferrous and non ferrous as well as mixed loads.

The yard I use rounds up. Not sure if they do this for every Joe that walks in or just the regulars, but..eh whatever, it works for me.

Oh and they always pay cash. I'm sure I could request a check..but...I like cash. Heh.

Mine rounds up or down. Although depending on who's cashering. If the Reg girl is in there she does it properly. If onebof the workers is filling in they always round down. Which p*sses me off.
