    Todays Haul

Got a great lead on craigslist yesterday afternoon from a lady who needed a house cleaned up. She said it was a small truck load of metal and I could take it for free, She even gave me $40 for gas because I lived about an hour away.

After working for a few hours we ended up with two truck and trailer loads total with a few thousand pounds of scrap including at least 100 lbs of clean aluminum from some old windows. All kinds of good sellable items at greater than scrap value including a like new push mower, livestock gate, chain saw, 2 brand new rolls of 2x4 utility fence... and numerous other items.

Been striking out on craigslist lately with no good leads, but hit the mother load on this one, Just goes to show you persistance pays off.

Looks like sanford and sons in the driveway at the moment. Snapped a few pictures of todays work.

Maybe you could use that chimney as a smoke stack for your truck?

LOL We did use a few fence post pipes for the exhaust, and scrapped the cats months ago! Nothing like showing up to someones house in a rust bucket with straight pipes on it.

You know thats something that I worry about...my truck still has the cats on it but they run into a glasspack that has no tailpipe so it ends right under the bed...It's pretty loud, especailly because of the fact it doesn't dump out the side and kinda echos under the bed...I bought it this way and while it doesn't bother my taste I worry about giving people the wrong impression or looking unprofessional...not to highjack the thread but any other input on this?

I never really worry about what other people think. Never been turned down because we showed up in a loud rusty truck.

I live in a pretty poor part of the country, And there are plenty of vehicles on the road worse off than this old truck.

Ended up taking the load in this morning. Was a very good haul and was more than happy with the totals.

    Shred - 1,840 lbs @ 11.50 per 100lb = $211.60
    Aluminum - 87 lbs @ .42 = $36.54
    Alum Cans - 23 lbs @ .48 = $11.04
    Electric motor - 397 lbs @ .26 = $103.22
    Batteries - 116 lbs @ .22 = $22.52

For a grand total of $387

I also made $100 off of some bales of fence and still have a couple items that should sell for an easy $100 more.

I ended up selling that beast of an electric motor for $108. It weighed in at 397 lbs and was one of the biggest they had ever recieved. Not bad for a days work.

1984 Dodge Ram... just sitting pretty low with all that weight haha.

I probably could have done better on the batteries, Only got $22 and some change for 2 normal size and 2 small ones. But most of the places are a decent drive from my house.
