    craigslist ewaste jackpot!!

So I answered an add on craigslist that said they had boxes of cards and vintage computers for $30. Figured it couldn't hurt to check it out even if it turned out to be a bunch of printers and monitors (like it usually is.) We email back and forth and he says, "if you're interested in old computer stuff then I will give you a car full."

I show up, with my $30, and this fellow hands me a dolly and says, "I'll make a pile and you take what you want." He didn't want any money, just wanted it all gone. Needed the space in his work shop and garage freed up. He's an electrical engineer that has kept all kinds of computer toys over the years. Stuff I have never even heard of, much less seen.

I took everything he put in that pile, even some old dot matrix printers and monitors that I really have no use or space for. But let me tell you, there is some MONEY in those boxes and computers he gave me. I can't wait to tear into them, but for the first time I actually think some of the stuff is worth more to collectors and I need to educate myself on it!

Oh and as I'm leaving with all this FREE amazing stuff, he says, "let me know when you're ready for more, I have to clean out the attic and the storage building I'm renting." HOLY CRAP!!

Here's some pictures I took as I was unloading. I'll add more pics as I get into processors and other odd equipment. Oh and sorry about quality photos, it was starting to rain so I was rushing and only had my crappy phone...

I used to use the PC5 hand held units. some were used for operating ultrasonic x-ray machines i used to build. You can walk inside the "envelope" of the machine and hand control it to line it up at certain points. Never took one apart but did fill a dumpster with them before I knew about scrapping and the company was doing a clean out. Prob not much of a market to sell it as they are usually custom for each application.

Nice score. Look into those ibm's. If they are 5150 and are in good condition you can sell them whole for way more than scrap. If you do part them DO NOT scrap the old 5.25 drives. Check out the vintage computer forum, people there are always looking for those and pay pretty good for them if they are in good condition. Man you got alot of vintage stuff there that looks in really nice shape...good luck with it all.
