    Patriot,
I'm in Nebraska and my yard is filling up with 'art projects' to the dismay of my wife. I tend to have a hankering for a few old antique farm implements that compliment the scenery but there has got to be a limit to it. It seems like a shame .....some of the stuff people let me haul off but if I keep bringing it home, I'll end up like them someday and there will be some younger scrapper cleaning up MY PLACE eventually. I like to give an item or two as a favor to someone...the ongoing Christmas spirit I suppose. I find myself buying individual items from customers to bring home. Whereas I haul on shares (50-50), it's always easier to just put the stuff on the load and sell it. I know alot of the machinery would have a use if I fixed it and found a buyer, but then ya have to deal with a waiting period, delivery and collection. Happy Scrappin !

That is a real cool truck but what's the point in keeping it if your not willing to invest the money to fix it up. It doesn't make money just sitting in a yard.

I won't give an exact weight, for obvious reasons what if I see one at an auction it'd give me an edge knowing exactly what they weigh vs the next guy who might not, but I'm willing to a ball park weight. I'm so stoked about getting my hands on one, let alone 2! Boxcars like this one aren't completely uncommon, use to sold for storage like semi trailers are nowadays. Stay tuned for more updates, appreciate you all checking my thread out and all the comments !

Some nice loads there. I wouldn't have scrapped that old chevy truck though. As long as it wasn't totally rotten the cab and front clip would have brought between $800-$1200 alone.

Well I way over doubled my money on that so it was a good day. Been my exprience selling parts is more hassle than its worth most of the time. Besides one for at the scrap yard bets the heck out of a two on cl.

    Tater,

Are you cutting it as prepared or just big enough to load. Sometimes with large amounts of the same material a scrap yard will modify it's prepared size. Instead of 3 ft. x 18 in. I was able to cut the water tank into 5 ft. x 18 in. It might be to late, but I just remember that.

Is this the large job you talked about in another post or is another one on the horizon? It is fun to see your progress and study your strategies. Thank you.

This would be it, and the other rail car I got to cut up. The sheet metal just gets cut enough to load it up. Basically the only iron I'm gona prepare is the frame and stingers for the floor.

I washed my truck once and you could see the rust. Not going to make that mistake again.
