1st month comes to a close

So i have been saving all my scale tickets for my 1st month of scrapping. after minus the gas and other cost ive made $769 for the month scrapping. not to bad i think for part time work maybe 40 hrs at most. I hope to double that for this next month. I also have some mlc and electric motors i havent takin in also.

sure there's things to cash in but not much, 3 hours of picking up every day and at least 7 hours scrapping,

what did you scrap in 40 hours to make that money?
was is brought to you in a heap or did you pick it up from trash bit by bit?
maybe your doing steel? you must be if you have many tickets.

That's a month's pay in Fremont County,Co...if you can find any work at all. Lots of folks work at sub-minimum wage here. Good job!!

half of that was sheet iron. I had over 200lbs in alum gutters. alot of hot water heaters. I basically stop and ask every roofer, electrician, heating and cooling guy i see what there doin wit there scrap. lot of them have a guy and even tho they have a guy they useally will let me take what they just did so they dont have to load it and haul it back to shop. I give everyone of them my card in case they change there mind. found a few guys that call me now and have me come pick up. also i cleaned out a hoarders house and he had many goodies. he was a small appliance repair guy from like the 60's and 70's. had bout 10 electric motors, 20 lbs of good clean #1 copper, 4 fridges, 2 cast iron sinks, 1 cast iron bath tub. i cant even count how many alum pots and pans, slow cookers, kettles and stainless steal pans. and i find a lot just driving and doing errands and such only takes a few mins to pull over load something and go bout ur way..

ya i was very happy with how i did. kinda worried that i just got lucky. all tho this last week i made $140. So we will see. I know there will be slow days but its not as much for the money as it is for the fun sometimes. kinda nice just hopping in the truck with my daughters and go look for hour or 2. they enjoy the ride

Nice work. I am at 11months now. I have sold gold to steel. My best hits have been free items that I sold for more than scrap. Price per pound my best has been a reproduction indian head dress that I got 150.00 for and it probably only weighed about a pound. Yes you can sell feathers. What I have learned is there is a market for everything you just have to find the buyer.

I've been doing ewaste for the past 8 months, but part time only, I pay for most of my ewaste, this way I can pick and choose what I take. I mainly buy computers (towers, servers, etc). So far no problem to make $25-30/hr. What do you get paid for various ewaste (boards, chips, RAM) in Australia?

I have no idea, don't even know where to take them to get money.
it seems a little different here, like the transfer station i'm dropping off my tv's,
they get tonnes of stuff for free, I was unloading tv's today and the cage beside me had pc stuff,
I asked a bloke if I could grab a tower, he said take 2, so I took 4.

I know there's ewaste companies around here, but I think they get their ewaste from councils like this place, they don't need to buy.
it's a bit of a worry, so far the best thing that's happened to me is I changed my old ram over and now have 1gb ram for free.
I thought ewaste meant everything electrical, so that's what I been doing, everything electrical, I wish I got the info when I started that the big tv's that weigh like 100lb or more, don't have much more in them then a smaller one, or pc monitor.
so there I was, week one, like a frigging super-hero carrying these massive tv's across the road and taking them home, when everyone else was cruising along picking up steel, microwaves and cutting cords.
