    A sad day

Late last week I cleaned house and shipped all my e scrap. I did well. Today I had nothing to do, nothing to break down so I thought I'd admire my collection of CPU's. Nothing big, just my own personal collection of pentium pro's and various gold capped CPU's, probably 20 in total. Well, I can't find them. I think I threw them away. I can't really explain what I'm feeling. Like I lost something I cherished and it's gone forever. Even though I made a killing with my last load I still feel like crap I lost that collection. I enjoyed looking at them. They were my cream of the crop. Sad to think I possibly threw them away when I was cleaning up after I got all my stuff loaded. A sad day for me... And my wife just doesn't understand.

I understand and others will as well. They are becoming more rare each day and for me its been a long time since the last one I have gotten. All you can do is hope you find it somewhere or go get some more. I'm sorry if you don't find them. Best of luck, Mike.

I knew you guys would understand. It's a weird feeling. I'm sad, mad, I just don't know. I personally delivered my last load so I know it wasn't in there. When I had everything loaded I did a thorough cleaning. I had them in a freezer ziploc bag I may have assumed was empty. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I find them. Man, I just can't get over it. It's like I lost something of great value when in reality it wasn't really that valuable. I just know they were rare. I'd be happier to lose money. You can alway make more. I'd rather lose my wallet and that usually sucks big time. I guess I felt proud of those pieces. Thanks guys.

I guess that's a great way of putting it! And now they're gone. Man, I just feel pathetic. I guess in time I'll just shake it off and hopefully find some more. Maybe next time I'll get a trophy case LOL. Good thing I still have my first one I framed.

My condolences, Scrapcrazy. I know that's a real hit to take! Hopefully they turn up soon.

Sorry for your loss. When I was a kid i got a paper route so i could save up for a new bike and i had over $300 saved up and lost the envelope i hid the money in. Found it a couple years later, I put it behind the clothes drawer not in it. it fell to the bottom of the dresser. hopefully it turns up

You just might get used to it SC, I've been through more of it over time than I can recall. They don't mean that much to me anymore, and I've been through some good ones. I bought this kind of stuff before it was being given away, when there were no "buyers" for scrap except on Ebay, but just for gold processors etc, no bigger boards. Actually I was just digging something out from my workstand out behind the barn and saw one laying in the dirt, figured to myself "that's $5 laying there" but went on about my business. They're laying all over the house, all over the shop, no telling how many in parts boxes sitting on shelves, probly just box it all up one day and ship it all off somewhere. Before moving back here in 06/07 I gave a half pick-up load high quality boards to a large recycler because nobody then I could find would buy less than a truckload, and I wasn't going to leave such a load of "toxic waste" laying around. And these weren't "rainbow boards", they were high quality workstation and server boards previously used by NASA and NWS, USGS, etc, etc. SUN, SGI, DEC, IBM, etc etc. I do hope you find them, cause I do know for sure, things like that don't always come around twice, but I'm also certain in time, you'll find other jewels

Odd, I didn't think you guys cared about those chips other then what you can get for them. There are plenty of people who collect those 486-ppro chips and not because of their melt value, new people to the hobby are having a hard time finding any.

I can't speak for others but I care for those chips. The feeling I get every time I find one is a feeling of great satisfaction. I dont really care for the value but more so for the rarity. Kinda like a collectors item.
