OK Scrapping being so much fun, combined with a full time other job can be a little tiring but I had two motherloads this week (for me)
1) Lady about 20 miles away had a pc, a couple of power supplies a little memory and a bunch of cpu's...thats her add. Pictures were poor which I usually ignore, but something told me to go. With my drive when I saw the load I was like crap I will pay $20 but she would not budge from $35. Little voice said buy it and I figured ok little voice, I can barely break even with gas but ok. Bottom of the pc had tons of cpus I didnt see...thank you little voice.
2)Bought a trailerload of electronics scrap...paid 170. Figured I'd make 250-300. Well I am way over that, not half done and in the process of selling made a new connection who will provide me 25-50 other boards a month!
Most importantly I just packed up my first box for ewasted! Mailing tomorrow I need room
and cash.
So 2 months in I am up 600 bucks as a part time job and I probably have 600 worth of unprocessed stuff. I feel good about this and am having a blast! I pay myself back for gas, car maintenance and everything, I'd say averaging about $20/hr....I am happy. Still having learning pains...like gold connectors learning...... still need to make some regular suppliers but just want to thank everyone here for your great support and education!
On a side note I learned that my yard is very picky on brass as they have had a lot of fakers...use a big assed magnet, pulled a 12lb valve out of the bucket with one tiny steel screw. Going to have to work harder on my brass....
