A TV to remember

I have taken apart many TV's & it is interesting in it self , as some TV's have nice copper yolks and wires - nice AL heat sinks and other items . some times it is a surprise that a large TV often has a small yolk - boards & small gauge wire around TV (stingy ones) as in reality they should contain more as I have found large TV's generous in Copper - TV’s of the early 2000’s were not equal a 27 “ JVC or RCA could surprise you wile a 27” Sony was stingy of copper . The last of the conventional TV’s built after 2008 I often see AL wire around tube’s also
But yesterday I found a 17” or 18” TV very unassuming Opened it up and it was WOW - Wire city
a true 1 pound copper yolk with even some brass .It was a RCA XL 100 solid state year 1973
Just for fun should of seen if it worked it’s totally gone now but I suspect it was a sellable TV in excess of Copper value well so it goes I am inundated with TV’s and should pay more attention .

yeah my favorite tv's so far have been the little old one's, usually white in colour from the 70's.
you only need to pick one up to feel how heavy they are for their size, but yeah, once scrapped they weigh less then 1/2
'cos there's so much stuff in them, they must of been expensive little tv's in their day, the backs are completely stuffed with boards, transformers i think they are, wire and yolk.

Are those transistors gold plated ? or are they solid gold legs ???

I see gold contacts on the tuner plate I feel they are not brass ,I can find out fast enough when i take apart as i figure brass will be solid through and through wile as you say gold will be plated . Not copper for sure and same color as your pic

I was wondering what do you do with the screens once you break down a TV????

I don't remember seeing any of those transistors, what year tv's would I find them in?

I saw a very old tv in a dumpster today. Guessing it was 70's. I had permission to pick what i wanted, but i left it behind. Maybe i should go back for it.
