    I love double dipping...

Got a customer who just HAD to be serviced today on Labor Day. Since I have to pay my guys time and a half to work a holiday, i told her charges were increased by 50% as a holiday charge. She was okay with it, which surprised me.

The next surprise? Here's what the load consisted of:
About 50% books and papers I can sell to the recycling place.
    Three bikes.
    Lots of computers and electronics.
    Several typewriters.
I figure I got about $200 of resellable/recycleable stuff, and the only thing I have to pay to dump is an old sofa.

Some days I LOVE my job!

Is the sofa so tattered that Goodwill won't take the tax-deductible donation? If so, that would make this a homerun!

I wish I had a place here to buy books. I just donated close to 100 books 2 days ago to Goodwill!

Anyways, good job on the awesome deal. And yes you are right, it is always surprising when customers are willing to pay extra.

Used book stores around here will buy almost any books in any condition. If they're all junk they offer you payment by weight. I believe the name is half price books not sure how big the chain is.

Good job, I had to help my dad bring two rolls of carpet in a house today, because apparently he wants to get a head start on it and work on Labor Day.. What ever. I made 10 bucks. Wish I got a call today lol.

powells.com buys books online. They also pay for shipping! It's a time-consuming process but you occasionally get 3 or 4 bucks for good books! Try it once, I've had better luck with them.

Yep, it's too far gone, but I think this one is already a home run with 2 RBI's... ;-)

in highschool I was a donation attendant at a GW...people would bring old nasty couches and other furniture in all the time...as soon as they left the lot we would wheel it back to the compacter and load it in....then there were times it went in crooked or got jammed up, so we'de jump in with bow saws and cut them up...so I can understand if and why they quit taking them...

Well, I never see any ads for anyone looks to buy any kind of book.

I do know there is a few places here that will buy them, but I doubt they want to go through 100 books. Plus, it was about to storm, and I had to figure out what to do with them, before I was forced to take them to the landfill.

Regardless of the reason, still good! lol

My wife almost killed me when I told her that I had a pickup. Luckily, I said it was for tomorrow, before the tombstone was made lol

    BONUS:

I take injections of certain vitamins and testosterone, and I've been out of syringes for a few days.

Well lo and behold as I am throwing away stuff from this Doctor's junk I find two unopened boxes of syringes. One more thing I do not have to pay for!
