    odd and interesting electrical bit's

I've been putting aside electrical items that I've found to be either strange or interesting so I can one day sit down and scrap them more so out of interest in how they work and are put together rather then scrap content.
have forgotten many things i've stacked away but aventually i'm gonna get to them and maybe video them.

today I got 3 items that were odd and thought i'd start taking a picture of them, until I get my new camera I ordered i'm making do with a very old one so hope to make better pics, one was this pc tower, not really strange but it's the first one i've seen anyway,
it has a clear perspex side panel so you can see inside..

the next one was what I thought was some kind of dvd player but it weighs 13lb, turns out it's a dentist's camera docking station, wondering what all the weight is about so looking fwd to this one.

the front is very plain, the back looks like it'll be fun..

and in the same place I got this dell 240t power vault, it's like a giant tape stacker.

must slide into something big, see how long it is?

opened the front door and inside there's data cartridges, pulled out 6 but looks like there's more in the system.

Take a good look at that casw. You will typically find some higher end stuff in those. Possibly a gaming computer.

nope, doesn't look like it, just had what looks like standard stuff, 120g h/d, a couple drives, a video card or something, nf7 motherboard a big amd chip and a nice slab of copper stuck to the heat sink..

aside from the perspex side, the empty tower is actually all aluminium, the first i've seen..

found a couple old radio's, with cords! but the cords are so worn the're falling appart.
this one weights 12lb, it's called a hotpoint, the snooze setting is called slumber which is nice.

not as heavy, probably more modern but still unusual..

Glad you said that. I recently found that their is a small market for computer cases of relatively any kind. I recently scrapped 30 desktop computers of all kinds and shapes. Got them just down to the case, in good condition. Listed 2 on CL. Sold them for $10 each.

What i've learned, is that their is an awful lot of people out there that build computers (duh). And, atleast some people in my area, like to have the extra cases hanging around.

I'll just set a few aside every now and again that are in excellent condition, and list them. Sounds like a good plan too me.

That 120gb hard drive should fetch you $10 to $15 bucks on ebay or CL also.

ok thrill seekers, here's a fresh batch of my unusuals. was a sunny saturday today, spring is settling in, days are getting longer and my stack of tv's is down to minimum.

got a projector, still works and all but has a long cord and it's heavy so i'm scrapping it to see..

these things are like meters or something, the one on the left has the side plastic panel with a lot of brass screws
and it's where they'd connect wires, not really sure, the 888 digital clock thing you see looks like it's on but it's just the sun shining it, but they're heavy and i'm really into heavy..

an e-scooter! I got this one a while ago but only got to it today, has no wheels or seat but the keys are still in the ignition. a quick look underneath seems like it's just a battery and an elect' motor, not much scrap value here but still, think it's kinda cool being called an e-scooter and being waste, e-waste..

some days I like eggs for breakfast, especially before a big day out scrapping, these are essential tools for a hungry scrapper, chickens!

today's most exciting find, well, probably the best thing this month, the september standout, is, 4 heavy boxes!
I jumped the gun with the big dell data box i posted up, thinking that it might be a server, but now I think I finally found a server!

I took the top covers off here but with the cover on they just look like plain steel boxes, just real heavy.
inside there's boards that slide in and out like a filing cabinet, and as it turns out, these 4 are part of one system, 2 main ones and 2 aux ones, and they have 3, 4 or 5 boards in each...

Pulled up some boards, it's a server for sure yeah?

this board is the first one from the #1 box, it has what look like a ram stick stuck on and a cpu..

a couple boards have little flash cards attached and again what looks like a stuck on ram stick.
inside there's another board across the base, without the boards they are mostly empty by the looks but
still very heavy so must be a big transformer inside or something.

the "meters" are capacitors for subwoofers...might have a more than scrap value value, even for parts.

The ignition from the ecycle might sell on ebay

acucam docking station $60 if non working $250 if working on ebay, id sell it as used untested and take the risk of a return, $250 gamble that may payoff, definetly not scrap

3m projector will bring $40 on ebay after fees and shipping is taken out, it will bring $60 on craigslist all day long, definitely not scrap if it works

And the "thing" in between the two "meters" is a distribution box for high powered stereo systems. You bring a large gauge electrical wire into it and add smaller gauge wires to it to feed the different amps and other stereo items. Most of the metal where wires attach should be chrome plated brass, I used to sell some that were "gold" plated brass. Don't know that it was actual gold plating or not.

got another server today, different as it's a big flat thing made by ibm.
has 2 mounted cpu's and heat sinks on top of things too.
some finger boards and a huge copper heat sink!

looks like some bits have been removed as it's just on one cpu, but look how nice and chunky it is..
