Refrigerators and charging to haul them away

Does anyone charge the customer for the Freon recovery? Seems like a way to cut your expenses when hauling any refrigerant-using appliances.



Obviously our customers do not know, despite widespread radio advertising, about the utility company (can't remember if it is Consumers or Edison) offer to buy your old fridges. I am still surprised when someone calls me and offers money to take away a fridge. I hear these commercials all the time.

Here, we are not required to remove any freon. The yard handles it.

However, I do charge regardless. Depends on how far away it is from me, and how much work is involved in order to get it.

but i dont have to remove the freon either, so if i did, i would probably want to charge!

if you sit down and look at your costs associated with picking it up and then how much you made off it, after a while you will see the reasoning

I will do it free for my friends and family too, but I still charge for gas. That isnt cheap. Even if you charged a little something, and provided a great service, they would still talk about you.
