Picked up a dryer and got a follow-up.

Hi all, last week a lady responded to an ad of mine and said she has an old dryer if i want it. So yesterday I go pick it up and while chatting , she says she and hubby are moving next week and instead of using a moving company, they would rather do it themselves and asked if I could help (Mainly drive the rental truck). She goes on to offer as payment a 42in flatscreen TV that they just don`t use and it is still in the box. (they are over 60, lots of money and no kids). Then she says that since they are moving into a small apartment, hubby has to get rid of all of his aquired electronics and old computers (Basement and garage full) due to limited space and asked if I could take that also. I respond with Yes, of course I can help and of course I can take the old computers and stuff.

Appearantly I gave a good first impression as the whole thing took place in under 10 minutes. Clean clothes, a fresh shave and a clean car (in and out) say alot about you before you even say hello.

    Have fun and good luck.

yes, I have a Ford Focus station wagon. Umm, I live in Germany and the washers, dryers, dishwashers are smaller than American appliances for the most part. I can fit 1 washer and 1 dryer in the car and still load smaller stuff around them. On the other hand, an older German frontloading washer can weigh up to 200 pounds depending on the model and brand. I have had my car loaded with over 500 pounds before. That is less than 5 adults sitting in my car.

Just make sure you don't get convicted of stealing for taking advantage of the old couple. (Sorry, can you tell this Montwheeler story is bugging me?)

BurlyGuys, Dont know what a "Montwheeler" is. Any how, I see your concern. after speaking with them again, here is the skinny: She is a School teacher, He is a Top-level IT guy. They are downsizing their living area and both are retiring early due to some major real estate sales and lucrative investment returns.( wouldnt tell me what it was). He knows every piece of eqiupment he has and what it is worth retail, used and scrap! They are turning over a new leaf in life that involves extensive travel and leisure and lots of Golf!!!!!! He just wants the stuff gone but not in a landfill. It is either mine or the next guys.

After re-reading the OP I see it was not the best explaination of the situation..

    happy scrapping
