    always check your receipt

I had a mixed load today. 6 buckets of copper, 3 buckets of brass, a few stainless items, about 7 washer and dryer motors , half the side of my truck bed stacked with aluminum, and the other half filled with steel and cast. I did all my non ferrous first then went on the scale with my steel. Got my money and receipt went home. I was happy with my $337. I got home and looked at the receipt and cracked open a beer to celebrate my scrap yard victory. Then I realized they won, lol. They never counted my aluminum no weight no price no total amount. I called them up and they remembered me and what I had. They said they will dig it out of the Bin and reweigh it for me. I went back down and showed my receipt and got the difference of what they forgot to give me. So lesson learned when i have a lot of mixed metals to always check to see if I get paid for all them

Always always always check your weights and prices before you leave. People are humans and make mistakes. Sometimes items are forgot sometimes items aren't graded right. I look at and study every ticket I have ever got. I also have a mind like a steel trap and can remember everything I have ever scrapped. Its sad I know but its the way I was programmed.

Glad to hear that things worked out for you. I sometimes take for granted how lucky I am having three scrap yards to choose from within 10 minutes, so I usually take in loads of one or two nonferrous items each trip. The yards seem to appreciate not having to do a lot of sorting and its easier for me to keep track of one or two weights.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

Checking every receipt where ever you go, is a great habit to have...Grocery stores are the worst.

That happened to me once. I had a bunch of copper and some brass and a bunch of radiators. After I drove away from the yard I realized I didnt get paid for the radiators. Turned around and asked them about it and had no problem getting it. They put it on the guy behind me in line. It was about $700 worth of radiators, so Im real glad I noticed! Thankfully the guy they paid was the owners nephew and it was not a problem at all.

If the price is wrong at our store you get it free so I am always trying to cash in on that deal. Sales change every Wednesday and so it's a good day to try and catch them.

Glad to hear they fixed it. I have a few things I do when going to the yard

1)I estimate my value before going - turns out I have gotten pretty dam good doing this
2)I do not walk away from the counter without verifying the receicept. I have caught 3 times where they paid me steel prices for Aluminum.

My yards also have a policy of if you are on the lot still they will fix it, if you leave its your problem.
